Gauging Interest

If we were to have say, a flag control tournament featuring teams of 5-7 players where everyone had the same fixed budget to customize their ship... how many people would be interested?

 

We don't have stuff set up yet, I was just wondering if we should even work on it.

That doesn't make any sense. Perhaps you have not played the elim arena which has a very early implementation of this. You'd be able to get many different upgrades so customization will still be high.

 

Addendum: why would hyperspace bother making a league where everyone has the same ships? That's what every other zone is for

To comment on elim, more time should have been given for players to purchase their equipment.

Bricks/Fields should still cost $, should really be dependent on teams whether they're going leave enough surplus after building their ships to stock up on consumables. It should force people to place what they use strategically. Teams who can defend without using the items should be rewarded.

As whoever said, the ships will be in no way similar, and you will most likely have only enough money for a single ship anyways, as it would be too advantageous to people who know what they want they will just make one really good ship instead of 2 or 3 etc.

 

That being said, all the ships will be quite different and it will add more depth to the battle than if everyone had the same ship, as it also ads to the fact of how well you manage your money, etc.

Honestly that flag control gameplay might be fun for pub HS as a change from the money-making hamster wheel. Everybody starts off the same and uses skill to win.
