Kilo Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 If they ever get the "3D Subspace" thing up.No, that'd be a different game. 5 years maybe even more. But how it's looking now, no way man.Barring some catastrophic event with SSC, or two major hosts, SS will have similar levels to today. If it were going to die so easily it would have already. You speak as if there is some great decline--I've heard the same story for 6 years. It'd have to start really declining now to be dead in 5 years, but it's not doing that. People come and people go. Most I've seen is Trench Wars not reaching 500 so often, while other zones have either died off because they were bad in the first place, stayed the same, or gotten bigger. Quote
»D1st0rt Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 Hey we tried having a person on staff who was solely responsible for running events, it didn't quite work out as we had hoped. I have been planning and working towards a Hyperspace Flagging League since 2003 (spoilers: the game mechanics are going to be flag control or something very similar), but there are a lot of things still standing in the way. As Arnk mentioned, an official league will be done correctly or not at all. Having said that, I recognize the need for some competitive events if for no other reason than to distract people from laming noobs in pub. I talked in another thread about the possibility of a tournament, and I recently finished some things that will make it a lot easier to crank out hostable events. (Right now all of these are available) We're doing what we can, it just (as always) takes a while. In the meantime, you guys can help out too if you stop being dicks to each other when flying around in your spaceships. Quote

Maybe try an event mod again, but this time spend a little time to get to know the person. I do believe Unix just offered, right? It doesn't really have to be perfect down to the bone. No one will really care if there is a bug or two. I do still play the zone here and there. But yeah right now everyone's in levi flying around with prox bombs making it impossible to not get teamed. O-well. By the way, if none of this makes seance sorry. I just woke up. :S ps. omni 4 mod. Edited February 27, 2009 by Acer101 Quote
Sharpflame Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 HS aught to try out private freqs again. Then try out a different size for private freqs. Quote

omni Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 I do agree more mods are needed. The only mod I ever see anymore is Rare and he's just afk in the zone 24/7. Quote
Kilo Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 "Event mods" are the worst idea ever. See other thread, but basically it goes like this: what's the point of being a regular moderator? They can host events they find fun to host as their reward for being moderators. Quote
9vgnc3eZ01 Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 Basing is like a side game that is sometimes played these days... The main attraction of the day is everything in center. (No wonder the minibase is used so much...) If anything, devs need to put more emphasis on basing. I've never thought basing was that bad, even though it had problems like stacking and such. It was a lot more fun then getting in my WB (or Spider in the minibase) and shooting things to slowly collect extra cash. Basing gets money quick, it often is a lot more fun, and it even gives prizes to the winner. If devs want to do a change that works, then bring basing back. Quote
Emit Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 Just to clarify, same amount of base games, just shorter. That is all. Quote
Suicide_Run Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 That is a temp solution to a long term problem root. But Kudos to you for trying something =) Quote
9vgnc3eZ01 Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 Just to clarify, same amount of base games, just shorter. That is all. There has not been the same amount. The base games are shorter, indeed. But those long games used to outnumber today's games. Today there is more centering. Honestly Emit, you're right when you refer "amount" to a frame of time like 1-5 months ago. Further then that, your fact is false. Quote
Emit Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Tell that to my 4k usage afking in Hyperspace 70% of the day since August 08. Quote
