»CypherJF Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 One other thing I'd like to see like Infantry/Cosmic Rift, where the downloading file's window actually shows you what files are being downloaded, an estimated time/progress, etc. I'm not sure how it's coded so far in subspace/continuum/server, but thought I'd throw it out there for responces.. thanks again, cyp
»SOS Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 Would be pretty easy to do with the client. The server just sends pieces of the file with the total length stuck in front of it, then when the ac-*BAD WORD*-ulated length is the same, transfer is done. Would not be hard to use those values for a percent. And the client requests each file separately, so file name can also be shown easily.
»CypherJF Posted August 19, 2003 Author Report Posted August 19, 2003 Wouldn't it make more sense to do that then having your entire screen being taken up w/ "Downloading File: #%" when you don't know how long/what files are being downloaded? Just a thought - cyp
Mr Ekted Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 Sure, but it used to be just LVL file. It was easiest to just make it work the same way for now. This kind of change requires modifications to client AND server. I'm sure PriitK is waiting for new server before he does anything serious to protocol, and frankly this specific idea would be like #500 on my list of important things.
»SOS Posted August 19, 2003 Report Posted August 19, 2003 It does not require any changes to the server, what are you talking about?
