SeVeR Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 I didn't see a thread for it, so i'll make a post. The ssforum.net site only seems to load about half of the time. Are other people getting the same problem? Is this to be expected? Is there a solution?
Cancer+ Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 I have not experienced this. Although I'm not sure what TT and Polix do with the server. If they upgrade it certain times or whatever. Are other sites like this for you?How long has this been going on?Are you on wireless or are your wired to your router?Clear all your temp files. I suggest www.ccleaner.comTry resetting your router/modem.
PoLiX Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Lot of people experiencing it, including myself. But have yet to find the sole problem. I know it must be with apache, as when SSF, SSC, MGCTF, HS, SSDL, etc. won't load, I login to ftp and it loads fine, no issues. Or I can even be ftping stuff and sites suddenly won't load. Gonna mention it to TT again, but last time he couldn't find anything, nor ever experienced this. Though I'm not sure how often he browses the sites.
CRe Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Seem to have the same problem aswell. Topic moved to feedback and support.
SeVeR Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 I don't get this problem with any other sites. Although I can't connect to the 17th Parallel zone for some reason, but i think that is unrelated. I am on a university network, but i wouldn't have thought that would be the issue. I am on a wired connection. I had a feeling other people would be getting the same problem because the same issue occurs on my work laptop too. That is a linux machine, and my home one is windows. The times when it doesn't work also appears to be random, making be fairly sure that its not a problem at my end.
»Blocks Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 I have this problem as well. It happens on the MG forums, but it seems to happen more frequently here (which is odd). Next time it happens I'll try to report a little bit more, but I think it has something to do with when there's an MD5 hash in the URL.
SeVeR Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 (edited) Today at 13:24 GMT, ADDRESS NOT FOUND, can't find server. Edited January 26, 2009 by SeVeR
Samapico Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 It happened once or twice to me, but an immediate refresh always solves the problem for me, it's not even lasting minutes.
»Blocks Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Immediate refresh usually works for me as well, and eventually always works. Also, anybody notice when you load the front page, it loads once, then loads again (usually just as I'm about to click on a subforum).
Audry Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 I had this problem before xmas... now im all okay. Was annoying tho, happened with SSForum and MG forum.
Cancer+ Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 So if it happens to some people...and doesn't happen to others...it doesn't sound like TT's side.
»Purge Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 Happens to me when I'm at my university but not at my house. Sounds like an ISP issue since refresh doesn't seem to work.
Hakaku Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 It doesn't happen to me at all when I'm connected from home. Though now that people have mentioned it, it happens here and then (to all websites hosted by TT) when I'm connected from university. Weird, but meh.
rootbear75 Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 happened to me on multiple platforms and IPs... Work (airport), home (mac) and my wii
CRe Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 For those having this issue try removing the "www." in front of ssforum.net. That seems to be my problem.
Cancer+ Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Maybe that is why I don't get the problem ever. I never put www for anything.
CRe Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Well all links on the forum have www in front of them.
SeVeR Posted February 3, 2009 Author Report Posted February 3, 2009 I haven't been able to access the forum for days until just now. You were right that all i need to do is remove the "www.", which allows me to read the pages (slowly) but i cannot make any posts through this method because removing the www doesn't help with loading the page in that instance.
»1587200 Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Weird. I've always used "www" in the url, and have never had any problems accessing the site, or load times.
Cancer+ Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 So we need to find some common ground. For the people who are having problems: Are you using a firewall?A/V protection?School/University Firewall/proxy?What browser? Maybe it is an FF3 problem?
rootbear75 Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 i never put www in front of it and im getting a lot of problems with it.on all computers. mac and pc
SeVeR Posted February 6, 2009 Author Report Posted February 6, 2009 Wow I can actually make a post again. I use AVG Free editionHave basic Windows Firewall.Connecting through a university network (i don't know any more than that so don't ask, but i don't get problems with any other site)Firefox browser (good point though, next time I'll try IE and see what happens) My Dad has had some problems in Firefox with running websites that require Flash products, although he has Windows Vista (i have XP) and i think this is Microsoft's way of sabotaging Firefox because its becoming more popular than IE (Microsoft will just claim ignorance and say they will make a patch but the damage will be done by then anyway).
CRe Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 I've tried IE with the same problem hasn't changed anything.
Testtube Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 I found the problem for this site and metagearctf.net In the zone file it was using the incorrect name server value for some reason. This should clear the problem up
