PoLiX Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Yeah, he accidently put the post # as the topic #. Post 222,229... forgot how many we've lost round here over the years, being yours is 242,335. Though that also counts rightfully deleted posts, posts from deleted zone forums and squad forums, etc.
rootbear75 Posted January 11, 2009 Author Report Posted January 11, 2009 sorry.. it was a link to trained's old advertising thread
rootbear75 Posted January 14, 2009 Author Report Posted January 14, 2009 only problem is that i dont have the materials nor creativeness to make cards and or CDs... I mean, i have CD labels, so if someone could put the installer on a CD and make a label pic for me, I can make labels on CDs... I got plenty of them. Possibly even put some of the most popular zones on there so they wouldn't have to download all of the LVZ, maps, and other graphical or customized settings. So Ideas i got so far:1) CDs with labels, and popular zones' LVZs2) Those cards trained has (sent him an email already)3) Continuum demo (although the convention center itself has access probably, the people LANing together will not)
Dav Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 is there any point in a demo? game is so small and the fact that its free means just give em the complete game
rootbear75 Posted January 14, 2009 Author Report Posted January 14, 2009 is there any point in a demo? game is so small and the fact that its free means just give em the complete gamewell i meant as in a demo to show them in the convention center. (demonstration)not demo as in a trial version
Dav Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 ahh ok. Now you explained it that sounds like a good idea
Trained Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 It probably seems like ive given up on the whole advertising deal, but im still working on it. I have about 100-200 cards I can send you, just send your address in an email. Ive been contacting YouTube and MySpace to see about getting some advertisements up, im still waiting on the reply from the advertising departments. Now that im back at work it would be alot easier to pay for advertising, as before, I was paying with everything from unemployment. But yea, send the addy root.

rootbear75 Posted January 19, 2009 Author Report Posted January 19, 2009 I still have that HUGE poster to that 2pac sent me if anyone has any REAL use for it.that would be perfect for the convention im going to...
rootbear75 Posted January 19, 2009 Author Report Posted January 19, 2009 let me send you postage... i feel bad for making you send them by yourself also, does anyone have a CD image or artwork they would like or think would be best for the CD i'm going to make?
Trained Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 (edited) Negative, I will handle this. Alsooo, MySpace just released something ive been waiting for, Pay-Per-Click! Woohoo, you get to setup and account, target your audience, submit your banner, set an ammount you would like to spend and then they take it out per click. I set up a $50 trial to see how things work out. If things are rolling well, Ill keep throwing money into the account untill 50,000 people are playing at one time. Well heres the banner I threw together, nothing special just a 30 sec deal. Also, I didnt advertise GetContinuum, I did the site I made a while back, Get-Continuum How selfish of me. EDIT: If you see the ad on MySpace, DONT CLICK IT. You'll be taking away from the game and youll go to hell and spend my money. Edited January 22, 2009 by Trained
rootbear75 Posted January 22, 2009 Author Report Posted January 22, 2009 i still would like someone to make a graphic that I can put on CD labels... I will label the CD's if i get an image or something
Trained Posted January 23, 2009 Report Posted January 23, 2009 Sooo 15000 views and 2 clicks. Days not ever though. So heres a slapped together cd label. I hate it.
rootbear75 Posted January 23, 2009 Author Report Posted January 23, 2009 not bad.... prefer black and white as I have easy access to Laser printers... but that can work. gotta go find my label maker and start burning CD's.. anyone know how to make the autorun on a CD work?
»Lynx Posted January 23, 2009 Report Posted January 23, 2009 Most simple is creating a text file, calling it autorun.inf then insert [autorun] open=.exe icon=.ico -L Also, may be wise to add: * Latest Wine* Wine patch* Wine patched for Continuum* Links Page Oh, further more you can configure the autorun file to be more complex, i.e. recognise OS and then run either just ctm setup for win, open a selection picker for linux (either wine patched for the people who don't already use wine, or a patch for wine for those who already have wine installed) -L Actually, I'm sure that you could run a shell to try and locate wine, then patch wine accordingly. -L (3rd time lucky, I hope) http://autorun.moonvalley.com/autoruninfeditor.htm
Trained Posted January 24, 2009 Report Posted January 24, 2009 According to MySpace if the ad doesn't do well within 24 hours of being posted you must raise your bid per click, I raised it to .58. Here is the new stats as of 5pm: 123 thousand views 36 clicks

HD's fried, (See tech sup thread). If someone can get the wine part of it and compile that for me I'd be more than happy to put that on the CD's as well. Also, I just thought of a problem, whether the event organizers will allow me to do this at all O.oi'll send an email later
