Dav Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 http://www.i-am-bored.com/bored_link.cfm?link_id=36896 link to video
tcsoccerman Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 (edited) looks stupid. why would apple invest in something like that? it'd take forever to type something, just like it did on my ipod scroll wheel when i wanted to search for music. why not have both? laptops already have touchpads, just replace that with a scroll wheel. or at least a touch screen keyboard. edit: also, 19 minute battery? i can't tell if that video is a joke or not, especially considering the scrolling text at the bottom at the beginning of the video saying "studies find horseback riding is just an expensive way of sitting". wtf? CRe Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 I'd rather take the keyboard. Would be too slow to type on it.
Dav Posted January 7, 2009 Author Report Posted January 7, 2009 ill buy almost anything if it is shiny and made my applethey are already hard at work on the next generation of the macbook wheel which will be 4 oz ligher due to its lack of screen, hard drive or wheel and my favorite..it remains to be seen weather the wheel will catch on in the business world where computers are used for actual work, and not just dicking around yeah its a spoof by the onion, very convincingly done though
Corey Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Lol this was quite funny, there is a movie based on the onion news paper. "Onion movie"
Samapico Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 i can't tell if that video is a joke or notI can't believe so many people don't realize it's fake... Sure it's pretty convincing at first, and could make sense, but it just gets ridiculous at some point.
»Lynx Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 I fell for it, but in my defense I had just woke up. -L
L.C. Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Only extremist Apple fanboys would go for that...and they would completely ignore the fact that they could type faster on a keyboard than using a round click wheel. What a stupid but unique idea. Then again, if you have little 3 year olds (literally) grow up on laptops like those, I bet with several years of young practice they could be rather competitive. D: But still, many problems with the idea.
ThunderJam Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 I think the only reason you can be fooled into thinking its real for a while is because the thought occurrs that it is lacking a keyboard due to it having a different intended kind of use than a normal laptop. Then when they showed you are supposed to type by selecting each letter individuality, i figured it wasnt real. Stopped watching after that point

Dav Posted January 8, 2009 Author Report Posted January 8, 2009 love the one where a voting machine becomes president.
Delic Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 ROFL so obvious. funny tho. "Alex Zalban was one of the lucky few to get to try out a Mac Wheel, and spent 45 minutes typing an email to his friend."
Gannon8 Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Name one program that does not need a keyboard in one way or another. First, how do you log on? If they invent a wheel fort that, you cannot have a password? How do you browse the web? Kinda hard to enter URLs without a keyboard. Last, how do you configure the BIOS, ect? An on-screen keyboard could theoretically work, but it would be A.) impractical B.) Slow( No, I do not like simple. Thats why I use Linux )
Cancer+ Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 ROFL gannon. Good Job. This is the youth of America. Gannon was the guy typing the e-mail for 45 minutes.
