op2rules Posted January 7, 2009 Author Report Posted January 7, 2009 Mini is great. The devs of HyperSpace have ridiculous ideas that us players will just have to suffer through. Spoiler! --Click here to view--Every few months they get a new random 'crisis issue'. A few resets ago it was 'spam'. This mythical 'spam' was somehow 'bad' for the zone, so items were given a money cost. It doesn't matter that it's just a money drain and people still use items exactly the same - 'spam' is cured and we're all saved, right? Then last reset it was 'bountying'. Somehow 'bountying' was 'bad' for the zone, and we all had to suffer through the ammo system debacle. Now bountying is just plain off in bases and ineffective/rare in center. The only real place to get high bounty in center is the mini. Guess what? The new random 'issue' is how much the mini is 'ruining the zone'. Nevermind that alot of people like it and there are very few 'mini haters', and those who dislike the mini never explain why or give valid reasons. Nevermind that HS's population has dropped significantly thanks to multiple terrible resets, so that basing almost never happens, and that the mini is the only chance most people have to base these days. Nevermind that ships 3, 4, and 7 can only center in the mini and nowhere else. The mini is 'ruining the zone', so it's gotta go, right? We're actually having fun, why do the devs have to screw with what players are having fun with? It's popular, therefore it must go! At this rate, it looks like a few resets from now it's there won't be anything fun left at all. Ahh Bingo, totally agree with Gar here, these are the types of posts I was expecting to see here, however this one covers quite a few ideas.
Corey Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Gar quite whining, it probably just a test... and event if it isn't, be glad that the didn't just decide to demolish the minibase completely. Either way, just use a warbird or javelin for center. you don't need to just minibase.
vetta64 Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 I really like how Gar complains about the zone like it's his job but he still plays. That makes me laugh.
Gar Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 I'm not complaining. That's what you teenagers don't understand. I'm discussing ways to improve the zone. I'm not saying the zone is bad.
Dr Brain Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Gar, that's not true at all. Lets see... The devs of HyperSpace have ridiculous ideas that us players will just have to suffer through. Not a discussion on improving things. Every few months they get a new random 'crisis issue'. Discussion on why things are "bad", but not a way to improve things. At this rate, it looks like a few resets from now it's there won't be anything fun left at all. Also not a way to improve things. Sorry, 0/3. You fail.
Bankotsu Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) if we are getting rid of the mini base we should at least have a more fun and rewarding powerball game or sumthing. I like the powerball game that hi-5 and sharpflame made that was the most fun subzone. We should take that and put it in like sector 8 or sumthing and make it were u cant flag in there. so we atleast have something fun to play edit: ps we should get a basing league started to bost pop Edited January 8, 2009 by Bankotsu
Kilo Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Ya.. well I'm going to fix powerball rewards because that's simple, it was designed when privates were still around and meant for privates to play. Now basically it's impossible to win any money because it thinks your team is too big. lol. for various reasons it's unlikely we'll regress to an earlier powerball game. and as I've said countless times we're going to make a quality league so it will be a while before that happens
vetta64 Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 If anything else the mini base proves, we enjoy repetative pointless basing, over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, again.

Ahh Bingo, totally agree with Gar here, these are the types of posts I was expecting to see here, however this one covers quite a few ideas. Mmkay( A ) Bountying = Bad for the zone = RemovedPros :: More basing, Less Centering. More work for money, More interest in game. Stops maxed out ships from griefing center and getting richerCons :: Less centering. More work for money. My opinion :: Removing Bounty was not only a smart move, it was a good move. ( B ) Mini = Ruining Zone = Expanded / now impossible to defend without the amount of people it would take to defend ANY base.Pros :: Less centering more basing. Less people bountying in mini. More 'dogfight' combat in center. Cons :: Not noob friendly for dogfighting. Ships 3,4, 7 pointless in center now. more people sitting in spec. My opinion :: Not so smart of a move, but only time will tell... ( C ) Raising sell prices of guns and bombs = Causing cash flow and more balanced fighting and more diversity of ships with constant gun/bomb changing = Sell prices dropped.Pros :: People smarter with cash thats hard earned in center.Cons :: Less diversity, Same gun choices as when it was reduced sell prices (i.e. only positron for sig gun, i.e. only shredder for non-sig gun) Ships no longer have personality. My opinion :: Bad idea. Sell prices should be the same for guns and bombs and prices of addons and the like should be increased. I think that the equal sell prices allowed diversity and gave players a much more flexible feel for in-game fighting through gun "personality" Also, Isn't Hyperspace NOT supposed to go back to the way it used to be?Always moving forward? Why the sudden decision to turn back when it benefits nobody? ( D ) Flag Change from 5 to 20. = Less basing = Already being discussed by mods.Buuuttttt.... 10 FLAGS!!!! (ANNNDDD)( E ) Please don't waste mods times by just complaining and not giving feedback by saying HOW it could be made better. EDIT :: Kilo, we know your working. Stibbymicto Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 (edited) Stibby, you said this... "My opinion :: Bad idea. Sell prices should be the same for guns and bombs and prices of addons and the like should be increased." Didn't quite understand this sentence... please explain.I'm not to sure of why guns and bomb prices were increased.Arnk said it was BECAUSE people would change their weapons repeatedly. Which I said was a good thing because it gave ships diversity.I just didn't follow the logic. Shouldn't gun diversity and change be a good thing? But, I could be wrong. So I said in my OPINION (Which most people think is a fact :\) Sell prices should be brought back to the way they were and addon / emitter prices could be increased to make up the "difference" Just from my viewpoint, people were making money to easily with the Sell prices being the same. I predict that two to four resets from now,Only WBs and Javs will be allowed to center, with no bountying at all. The center itself will just be one big empty square. All consumable items (rep/burst/thor) will simply be removed to cut down on 'spam'.All popular equipment items will come with terrible drawbacks, which will result in Jedlik Dynamo being the most used reactor.Whenever the zone detects actual basing happening, all Lances on all teams are automatically brickwarped to punish players for being a-holes.Players that have ?usage above 16 hours a day will be given godly items and the ability to transport to anywhere instantly. These teleporting super ships will also be given access to weapons (cobalt) and items (coffin) that can destroy entire freqs singlehandedly. The balancing factor, specially designed by Dr Brain, is that 'you can quit if you don't like it.'Anyone who protests when the teleporting super ships disrupt gameplay for the rest of the zone will be denounced as an a-hole and reminded of the balancing factor.A bot will continually scan the zone for whatever item is most popular over the last 10 minute period. This item will then be automatically nerfed.A bot will continually scan the zone for whatever base is most popular over the last 10 minute period. This base will then be dipped in week old cow manure, and will not be allowed to be hosed off.To save space, Spiders and Levis will be combined into one ship, which chooses 'Guns' or 'Bombs' and is otherwise exactly the same. This new 'Spidiathan' will inexplicably be unable to buy the reactor that would be the best for it.To save space, WBs and Javs will be combined into one ship, which chooses 'Guns' or 'Bombs' and is otherwise exactly the same. This new 'Warvelin' will be hard to play, because it simultaneously wants to kamikaze suicide rush/run away all the damn time.Weasels will still be irritating. The future will be so magical and different! I can't wait!

Dr Brain Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 No, we don't have any need for item ideas. Item names are welcome (in a different thread). Since this thread is very off topic, I'll close it. If anyone has mini-base related comments, just start a new thread (possibly with a link back to this one).
