There's three primary events to Hyperspace: Racing in the events arena, Hyperball, and maybe dodge in the events arena. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's a nice range. Base balling to racing. However, a few more events would definitely be useful, probably necessary.

 

The zone could use more events of an even wider range, covering all sorts of aspects. I've wanted to create a CTF event for the zone for a long time, but until a CTF module that is found and that is perfect enough to be applied to the server, we should think about things that can be made with somewhat limited settings and features.

 

 

Here, it would be useful if people would post suggestions to improve events, ideas for new events and just discuss events in general.

 

 

Things to think about for event improvement:

  • Current event tilesets, are they bad, do they fit the event?
  • Settings, are ships balanced? Do physics make sense for the event?
  • Event names could be more original
  • Event additions, for example more bases to Hyperball (remember though we are slightly limited, the exact reason why Hyperball's third base isn't used)
  • Event prizes/how often to be hosted

and things to think about for new events:

  • Transwarps, like the corner warps, can be created in events. Allthough not very instant, they can be useful
  • Consider all SS gameplay types, like powerball, elim, free for all, turf, warzone (like HS public I think), and whatever else may come to mind
  • Consider ship balance and roles, a lack thereof is acceptable depending on event
  • It is possible to have lvz, even if difficult to get uploaded because of the lack of staffers with the power to do so
  • Prizes
  • User-friendly, noob-friendly
  • Fairness
  • Some events can be hosted in the public arena, like Rabbit. Some shouldn't be. Some may even be hosted in existing arenas

Hopefully, some new events will eventually arise. Nice ones, too.

 

 

Some things: What happened to bombline? That event was fun, if frustrating smile.gif . It looked like crap, it was something that could've had more time spent on it. I think it aught to be recreated.

 

How often are events hosted? Does rivel host them often? I don't host very often, but I do host a large chunk of it when I host at all. Are events hosted too often, too much? Are rewards acceptable?

Idea:

 

Everyone is warbird except for one person, preferably the host, who is a levi. The warbird each have 7 repels. Large ring with a few obstacles in it, divided down the center by tiles that ships can't go through, but bombs can. The levi shoots a bomb from the top toward either side (The bomb shooting area will have bomb-eating tiles in order to force the bomb to be shot a certain direction). The bomb has a large prox and a very large splash radius and damage. Teams repel the bomb in order to survive and kill the opposing team. If the bomb hits the outer ring, it should kill a decent amount of ships. If the bomb explodes, whichever team has the most players still alive wins.

 

This could be made easily with no restraints, simple settings. Map is a simple large ring, could be styled with vertical line gradients for a flare effect on the radar.

Kind of an idea i had, mine was more of a dodgeball kinda of setup, and not as many tiles, heres what i had:

 

A map with 2 -4 goals, and 2 levis one on either side of a dividing line (maybe even a bot) Levis bomb towards team of sharks, sharks must get goals to bring back their team. Sharks repel lev bombs into enemy sharks. 1 Life per shark. (levis would get shields and full charges)

 

Tw settings of course (thors can be used instead of bombs)

It's done! Features the event idea mentioned above, plus freeze-frisbee, where you must score like regular powerball, but when you hold the ball you can not move. Even more events may be added to the arena... suggestions are welcome!

 

Wow, frisbee is a funny word. Frisbee.

The event is cool, there are some glitches with the center line

 

The center line had two transwarps set up on the same spot, I just split them apart. Each transwarp is 2 tiles wide and are against eachother inside the line. Removed the purple smoke tiles in order to let the ball spawn in the exact middle. Did a little more tuning up too. The transwarps don't work perfectly, I hope I can get some help from doc, as he setup foosball's transwarps and they worked (when the event didn't crash your client) perfectly, IIRC.

Ive got an idea for an event, here it is, its just a Duel ladder, can either be 1v1 or 2v2. shiftyninja.gif

 

This is good. Work on it please.

 

Screw the hotpocket/thorwars crap.

Would be a simple ship, Warbird, 10 Thor's, slow fire rate, about a harpy's prox, with hardly any splash damage. 3 repels, last group standing wins either money or is prized. Or have it so the goal is to keep yourself alive, Ie, rep the thors into your team mates.

 

D Ladder

 

Either a 1v1, or a 2v2

 

Everyone has the same ship, Pea shooter, impact bomb, ion drive, and fission reactor.

 

Or each player is given $500,000 to make a warbird with all the items that pub has, and then fight in a ladder.

 

Or it can be an event if a regular player is looking to host, all he would need is a mod to spawn the players and open/ close the doors, and you would use the shipsets that you currently have.

 

Prize could be a "wish" from a staff, or money.

$500,000 is a little too much.

 

And I'd prefer to have all ships similar, like in javelim. That way, people don't complain about unfair ships and the event will be eaiser to make.

Stibby, I can't comprehend your posts as they are confusing. Mods are limited to hosting either 2 races a day, 10K's worth of trivia or otherwise not-too-much. That is, they usually follow these rules.

Been working on a bombline event, since there isn't a bombline arena anymore. here take a look.

 

The third screenshot shows a tunnel game:

A ) is where the shooter sits

B ) is where the players must reach in order to win

C ) is the tunnel they must travel through to reach the goal

 

the indents in the wall are where the player will be able to hide, avoid the bomb.

The second screenshot shows a player vs player bomb game:

A ) where the bombers sit

B ) where the players start

C ) where the players must reach in order to win

The first screenshot is of a chance game:

A ) the chambers in which the players are located

B ) the tube in which the bomb is fired down, this tube will be accessible to players but when they enter they will be warped

 

the bomber fires a bomb down the tube, no prox, fair amount of shrap, but the shrap is a 1 hit kill. after every bomb is fired the doors are opened for a few seconds to let players choose which chamber they would like to be kept in.

Turret wars was a two - three Captain game. Where the captains where given a lanc in the zone 'events'

Their teams consisted of 5 players each and then they were attached to the captain, whose job it was to avoid enemy shots while simultaneously having his/her team fire back. You gained points for killing the enemy team. Most point wins.

 

Then, of course, you have MVP lanc, MVP Leviathan. Etc.

 

(no picture. But you dont need a map for this one. Just an arena where their is enough space and no obstacles [like events] for this one to work)
