How I loathe this bus strike......

http://toronto.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTV...81212/20081212/

It's gonna last a month most likely, and it's causing problems all around. Not only is it a huge hinderance on people, but traffic is an ass with 20% more vehicles on the road, and businesses are slowing down in a time when we'd expect shoppers to be all over the malls and such. That plus those bloody hippy bus strikers are picketing students at universities and colleges. Fuck them. I have exams to do; I swear I'll take their signs and beat them off the road one by one if I have to.

That almost happened here in Pittsburgh. That must be nice that you only have 20% more riding the public transport. Ours like is like at least 60% riding the buses and the trains. I can't see how Pittsburgh would survive with everyone driving in.

lol trust me root, that's kinda what I want to do. But the cops are right beside the picket lines eating their doughnuts and drinking tim hortons coffees, and the minute they see someone try to provoke any action against the picketers, they bust them outta their car and all. Kinda rediculous, but not like you could ever rely on them.

No, it's a 20% increase of cars. I'm not sure what's the exact ratio of bus commuters per vehicles, but a lot of people who use the buses regularly are simply staying home and not going anywhere because they don't have the money to pay for taxis. Others who live 15 minutes away from everything simply walk, but I live in a rural region, so there's nothing but cows and snow around. Downtown on the other hand is gridlocked during rush hours; and leaving at 6am, it took me 2 hours and 40 minutes to get to my exam last time.

well i dont necessarily mean run them over, just basically let my car "idle" into them, push them out of the way (you know how your car still goes when your foot's off the gas but in Drive)

and if they feel like preventing me from getting to work, then i'll take their ass to court for lost wages.

that happened earlier this year in Toronto and it was hellllll. we have a lot more people riding the TTC than you though, so when they went on strike, every street was literally traffic jammed with volume =/

I wish we had a public transport system where this would be a problem.

If the buses went on strike where i live...no one would notice.

where I live there would probably be improved traffic flow and a whole day where you don't get ripped off to get around the city.
