onefew Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 Would it be possible to implement the automatic evening of teams for pub freqs? I used to play powerball quite a bit and they had something similar. The reason I ask is because there is the possibility of 1 team getting up to many people and continually win the flag game, while the other team is pathetically small. Evil Doom Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 (edited) from what i remember, team evening is on the to do list for the devs btw this should be in zone developement Edited December 12, 2008 by 3vil Quote
Dr Brain Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 It's on the to-do list, yes. If the teams *do* become unbalanced, they get much less money for winning. Quote
Masaru Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 I support this topic. Makes me think of SWZ. Quote
rootbear75 Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 how about the automatic shuffling of teams on every flag game completion? Quote
onefew Posted December 13, 2008 Author Report Posted December 13, 2008 I agree with the shuffling after a fg win. In powerball the evening would do the shuffling after a win, and then during the game keep teams even by saying things like: Teams are uneven! 15v10, 2 people must move from freq 0 to freq 1 in next 2 minutes or teams will be evened automatically! and repeat that until people evened them themselves, or at the end of 2 minutes would force that many people over. vetta64 Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 I think the problem was people moving from team to team, and now that is locked. This should be note to people in this zone to not be so greedy, and actually help out the smaller team, I can't believe that on an internet game like this people will all jump on a winning team, or leave the arena because the other team is about to win, just because of HS money. This is something I don't think zone development will fix until people who play in the zone, especially the ones who happen to have over 1m, stop being so greedy about imaginary HS money and try a little harder to make the game more fun for everyone. You know who you are. Quote
Kilo Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 This should be note to people in this zone to not be so greedyIf that happened then the devs could actually get something productive and fun done instead of things that people perceive as oppressive and bad (yet are necessary..)That said we already accepted that people feel better about winning more for themselves than making an enjoyable game for everyone. Obviously other people are fine with devs wasting time on this kind of stuff. Anyway, OLD. Suggested 500 times already. there's a bot plugin that already does this...YOU KNOW BETTER LOL Quote
Hakaku Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 there's a bot plugin that already does this...YOU KNOW BETTER LOLIt shouldn't be that difficult to write a similar plugin for ASSS though. Quote
Kilo Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 (edited) Correct, but remember that other zones don't have to worry about people having more or less resources at their disposal. One person here may have much better ships than the next, which complicates things immensely. 20v20 isn't always as in fact quite often isn't fair. So not only are we going to write it from scratch, we have to do it differently than a standard module. Whether we knew how to build such a thing was never in question. What we're not exactly sure about is how to account for people of varying exp levels/items in a way that makes sense, as well as make something that is easily extensible and flexible (as is how we do most things.) Emit Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 I think it's not why people won't go towards the losing team to help but not being able to to any extent help. With the current system you basically are limited to around 4-10 minutes to storm a base. If you don't manage to do so you're toast. Being that most people now have bricks and such, that 4-10 minutes is just too limiting to even bother to take a base. The system just makes it so that teams that are heavily powered will win, and thus contributing for another problem that the losing team will just leave and the jp will always result to be 10k>. I think those are the two main issues currently, but balancing isn't any priority now, will just need to live with it. Also, whenever a fg has started, the defending team seems to ALWAYS have the upper hand. Which isn't usually the case, but to my observation it is. Quote
