Black Mesa

The guys making Black Mesa (aka Black Mesa: Source) put out an official trailer, in which it says it will be out in 2009

 

For those who don't know, it's a remake of Half-Life 1 with the Source engine used in Half-Life 2. Valve did make Half-Life: Source a while ago, but they didn't even improve the graphics or anything, they just ported the old game to the source engine, with perhaps a few minor improvements. Black Mesa, however, is a complete remake with brand new graphics, but the game itself should remain pretty much the same, except perhaps for a few surprises now possible with the Source engine.

Should be totally free too, since it's an independent mod. As long as you have at least one game of the Orange Box (I think... not sure which version of the source engine they use exactly)

It does look really nice, but nowadays really nice looking games arent that good. People are too into OMG REALISTIC and OMG PHYSICS, and not OMG STORY or OMG COMMON SENSE. Kinda getting tired of it tbh.

The thing is... Half-Life 1 was good... so it's not like this thing will only have good graphics. It's not a sequel to HL1, it's a remake
