The zone is looking good to me I was just thinking about a couple of things that I know noone had time to fix, but my finals are this week and I figured everyone elses are too, so here I go:

 

1. Hardly anyone is using sharks for basing because they are so restricted in what you can buy. I understand not having sigs on a shark but can we have a little freedom there?

 

2. With the almost constant FG due to the non-jackpot game, Can we please do away with the no longer useful mini base in center. Then people can either base or center, but not both at the same time. This is coming from someone who loved mini base, when it was more useful.

 

3. Since 5 flags was not enough to make a good FG and 20 is too many, is it possible to have 10. For those non-math majors that is half of 20 but twice as much as 5. I think this will help those long lag times where one team has 18 flags but can't find the last 2 which are usually hid in either base 2 or 4, which need to be replaced anyhow.

 

Thanks you, please shoot down these ideas quickly so I dont't have to wonder if someone is working on them or not.

Do what LK does when people start going into the mini... thor, thor, thor. easy exp and when they get annoyed they will just leave it.

I believe that would be a significant waste of money. Unless someone thinks it is fun to annoy other player who will then later be on the same team as them in a fg.

Sharks are fine. Last reset they were way overpowered.

 

Minibase is fine, use jump engines or bricks/fields.

 

20 flags keeps games going longer.

I said easy exp not easy money. However, if you kill more than one player with a thor you would be making money. not much money only like 10 dollars per say.

Addressing Issues:

 

1. wat, should see my shark

 

2. i like mini, let's you bty, easy to rush etc etc. good money

 

3. 10 flags pls. would have more fg's, takes less effort to find 20 flags scatter through the map, lose less, etc. etc.

No. But some of the theoretical new items will be able to go on shark. If shark is "fine" why aren't people using them? Duh.

I would get rid of it regardless, because it's fairly mindless play and is otherwise useless. Yes, I said it.

 

 

All of this has been said before and will be said again

and a lot of the things that have been "suggested" have already been planned for a long time

doesn't change that I'm not touching this zone's stuff until I'm done with school

yeah, all I need is to work long enough to pay the rent and internet bill and Im set.

 

I guess I'll look forward to the next couple weeks then since school should be out.

I don't know what "problem" reducing flags from 20 to 10 is supposed to solve. Dr. Brain's stated goal is for flag games to last 15 minutes or so, which they do now. Recall that with 5 flags and no jp, teams were winning, grabbing flags within seconds, and winning again before an attack could blow them out. Games lasted 5 mins. With 10 flags, you're moving back in that direction of gameplay.

 

The ability of a freq to hide a couple flags gives them time to organize an attack, and forces the defense to chase reds and divide forces between attacking and defending in order to collect the last flags. Oh, but that's "too hard" for you guys that just want to quickly win over and over because it's the new milking.

 

Never mind that HS had 20 flags for most of its existence and all the other flagging zones have 20+ flags without players complaining that it's too many.

 

20 flags is perfect.

it could be made so that a person can only carry 4 flags.

problem solved.

 

Plus, if the entire pub cant take out a winning team within 250 seconds, then their wasn't much of a hope to begin with.

-I quit playing Continuum to continue to work on my studies in I.B. I'll probably be back a little from time on the account Fx but it isn't set in stone yet.-

My goal in this post was not a complaint. Which is why I said I am happy with the way I think things are going. but unless I am mistaken this is a zone DEVELOPMENT forum.

 

10 flags I though was a good compromise between 20 (too many flags) and 5 (too little), since it appears to be right in the middle.

Wallneuting adds special urgency to leaks. It's not that big a problem as long as sharks suck blum.gif

 

Plus, if the entire pub cant take out a winning team within 250 seconds, then their wasn't much of a hope to begin with.

 

If you can immediately grab all flags and win in 4 mins, you can use bricks/fields by themselves to hold off the other team. That was happening in the 5 flag scheme and was pretty lame. Now you are always missing a couple flags and you can't hold a team off with bricks alone for 15 minutes.

C) Make the flag drop radius smaller.

All of those solutions either don't fix the problem or are unacceptable.

Here's my opinion on this stuff.

 

Sharks

Pros:

-Top-notch recharge

-Small

-EMP Bombs

 

Neutral:

-Good all around capability, but they don't excel very much at anything either

 

Cons:

-Not up to par in well, almost any situation anymore

-Item choice is obviously small

 

Though for me, these ships can still work out and be useful. It would be nice if they have more bomb speed.

 

 

Minibase

 

This I don't really care about, actually...

 

 

Basing

 

Well, I hope you devs know how important repels are, and why they are forced to be important. The power nerf (which I thought was a good idea and worked) and a price tag act in two different ways, especially in the case where there's only one way to play. In the case where there is no other option to begin with, putting a price tag is like saying; "don't use repels".

i love the minibase, because who wants to fly to a sector base to have a 2vs2 with flags. i think it needs to be redone. i made a new one, didn't submit it though. minibase is horrible right now because it has a safety zone and only a few hallways. needs to be at least 7 hallways and remove the safe

 

There is a slight change in the minibase for the new map.

I love the minibase. I don't know if you've noticed, but centering in HyperSpace is extremely boring. The minibase is the only thing that breaks the monotony. Please, for the love of god, don't take it out. In fact, make it better. Get rid of that stupid safe, and put thor-proof walls all around it.
