Hate The Fake Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 (edited) Trenchwars is gonna start putting up advertisements in various websites. Pure_Luck has set up a donation link on www.trenchwars.org in an attempt to help build funds for advertising. Seeing as how these advertisments will be benefiting the entire zone it might be wise of everyone to get involved. Some other things that we have discussed on our forums include; sending out a Christmas message to all forum goers that have ever signed into tw forums, selling banner space on the forums, and using google adclick. Lets Repopulate! (also to all the naysayers, we have a free game one in which ive had the benefit of playing for years. The reason i stay is because of competition (twd) and the people ive met along the way, we should give this a shot, or each zone try and do their parts in repopulating. Even these forums can send a simple Merry Christmas email) Edited December 8, 2008 by Hate The Fake
Aceflyer Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 (edited) Not everyone celebrates Christmas. Might be better to send out a New Year's message instead. Adding advertisements to TW forums probably won't help with population. I think advertising should only be done to raise money if needed to keep TW core components up and running. Hate The Fake Posted December 8, 2008 Author Report Posted December 8, 2008 Well the advertisements would help raise money to purchase other advertisements. Also the new years idea is a good one.
PoLiX Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 The issue is... VB and IPB have a lovely little user setting to ignore administrator e-mails. IPB you can ignore it, but if I remember right, VB didn't use to (granted we switched ~6ish years ago). But when I went to send SSF's news letter, not ignoring their setting for that, I was only going to send out like 500-600 when there is almost 5000 registered members. And most of those I noticed we're 0 post members. That and even once I did send them, had 1300 e-mail errors from bad e-mails people have. Just a heads up of some things to check before you put to much into the newsletter.

Not everybody celebrates New Years at the same time either. OH NOEZ. *sigh* Anyway, is there any way that somebody with some power could get hold of the SSC E-Mail database to send some e-mails out. It would be a long shot, but I certainly think it would be a good move, and not necessarily a hard move to make. -L
Samapico Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 Better check the license agreement, or the privacy policy if there's any, on the registration form or something, would suck if you get sued for using the e-mail for advertising purpose
