Samapico Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 LVZ's are pretty simple, really... Go in the LVZ Library tab above the tileset, right-click in there, Add Image... Import whatever image you want, define its animation properties, Add Then you draw with it
Corey Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 After i press "add image" it says Runtime error'11': Division by zero
Samapico Posted December 1, 2008 Author Report Posted December 1, 2008 After i press "add image" it says Runtime error'11': Division by zeroHoly crap... No one told me that before? Everyone is still using that old crappy LVZ Manager? bleh
Sketter Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 (edited) Since sam wants the LVZ manage to be put out of business by using the simple "right click add" i made a few requests so it would make easier to do things, by maximizing more features. When those are added, i'll make the tutorial, since i see no use in creating something that is going to be replaced by a system that does things completely different. (I still think the manager gives you far more control and better organization Sam) Sketter Edited December 1, 2008 by Sketter
Samapico Posted December 1, 2008 Author Report Posted December 1, 2008 As I explained to Sketter... The current "LVZ Manager" window is very inefficient if your map has a few thousands of map objects. The listboxes controls in there are awfully slow and it freezes DCME for a while everytime they refresh if you have a lot of objects. I even had to set a maximum; I think over 3000 objects it stops displaying them completely with a message like "too many objects to list" I'm fixing the Add Image... thing right now And when I get some time to put a finishing touch, there will be a LVZ menu with all you need
Drake7707 Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 that old crappy LVZ Manager? well gee, easy to say bad things about others stuff now is it j/k , it is crappy after all
Samapico Posted December 2, 2008 Author Report Posted December 2, 2008 crappy it is, user-friendly-wise; very efficient as in being able to do anything though and I take blame for it too
Sketter Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 I find it to be very user-friendly. You two remind me of M$ who reminds me everyday that "if it's to simple, then it just isn't right". I never needed help with the manager unless i found a bug. Meh, I'll just slowly push Sam to make some other "manager" Sketter
Samapico Posted December 2, 2008 Author Report Posted December 2, 2008 it's user friendly for people who know the structure of lvz's, otherwise, not that muchFor someone who just wants to put an image on the map, doing it in a few clicks with Add Image... seems easier. It creates the LVZ, imports the file, and creates an image definition with the file. All these 3 things are done together 99% of the time, so doing them that way is quicker than with the manager I thought about some different structure though... One where everything would be in the same list Lvz1 |-- + Files |-- + Images |-- - Map objects |----- + Selected objects |----- somepic.bmp, 8750, 9000, AfterTiles |-- + Screen objects Lvz2 ... But either way, we'd need to make a whole new custom control for that, because the standard list control we use simply cannot be used with a few thousand map objects (which is seen often)
Sketter Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 Alright, you got a point. Are you open to the idea of keeping the manager, and removing the areas that have issues such as thousand img thing and so on. I feel it could be done in two was that can help both sides.A place to create, and a place to manage imgs. Cause without some type of manager how will you keep track what's on your screen. ( split to new topic? )
Samapico Posted December 2, 2008 Author Report Posted December 2, 2008 ( split to new topic? )Done And check the new FAQ (used to be 'Known issues')... Had to make a new sexy spoiler2 tag for it It just needs to be filled now
