PoLiX Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 October 27th, 2008Name, It has been brought to my attention many times that I should do some sort of monthly newsletter. So I figured a monthly recap this month to kick it off would be a good idea. From here on out, expect Bi-Monthly newsletters covering all sorts of information. The past month has been a month of recovery for SSForum.net as with School starting it always seems to dwindle our userbase for the first month or so. But activity is again picking up, and new topics should begin popping up giving us all something worth reading and discussing. Few weeks ago I also reorganized the forum structure. I wanted to bring Development Discussion up out of the mix with the rest of the project forums to bring it more life and activity. So far this has worked, and it has really gotten the discussions rolling again in what was a dead subforum. It also got one of the forums I dislike the need for the most, the Spam Lounge, off the main page of the forum. -------------------------------------Forum Highlights-------------------------------------In the World Discussion forum things are heating up. This is only the 2nd US Presidential Election in the history of SSForum, but one that has spured many heated debates, and a lot of discussion over the past few months. Feel free to visit http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showforum=2 to discuss the elections, or any other major news story in your neck of the world. DCME is once again active and releasing updates. If you want to check out the new versions, report bugs, or just help Drake and Samapico with development and/or bug testing, visit: http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showforum=277 -------------------------------------Wrap Up-------------------------------------I promise I'll work on making these more interesting and information filled in the future. This is just a test to see if people will actually read, reply, and maybe visit the forums. We've also been discussing and checking out a lot of the future features we will have available to our members thanks to all of Invision Power's advances in IPB 3.0 Over at SSCentral.com, Joomla! has been installed and we have begun searching for a new template. Due to lack of time for me, lack of a devoted designer, and lack of anyone stepping up to design us a website, I will end up having to modify a template we find. So if you have any good templates, or wouldn't mind helping search for one, please do so and drop me a line with a link @ pressuredintoitgmail.com. -------------------------------------Active Threads------------------------------------- op2rules has recently began work on his own website premiering freeware, adware, and shareware for you to check out. Only a few games and applications so far, so check it out - http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=21994 - http://www.op2rules.net Windows 7 is Microsoft's next wonder to replace Vista which has become ME 2.0, guess every other Windows is the key now a days. Candygirl has shared a video demoing the Multi-touch feature that has become the new fad for computer users. http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=21995 - to discuss and check out the link to the video. L.C. has posted another version of his All-In-One Server Kit. It features a 100% ready to go out of the package server setup for those who'd like to start their own zone, or just need a quick test server. http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=21940 - for more information. There is also a lot of new development from the DCME team, and we should hopefully see a new version with a lot more features soon. http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showforum=277 - to see what they're up to. -------------------------------------Planned Changes------------------------------------- Due to a lack of use, and development we will be removing the SS Wikipedia. It became more of a personal promotion than a true Wiki, and sadly has killed its purpose. I will try to move a lot of the important information to ASSS's wiki and SSCentral so it is not lost, and will probably keep the wiki locked and archived for admin view in case anything is ever wanted or needed from it. The SS Army was planned to make a return, but due to the release of IPB 3.0 coming before Christmas, I feel the amount of work to set it up and lock it down, would not be worth the short time it will be up. Hopefully they will update it for 3.0, and I can then set it up again with a lot simpler gameplay like it had when it was very popular. Many complaints we're that the game go tooo serious, and you had to spend a lot of time devoted to it. I'd like to change it up so that you might need to visit it 2x a day at the most for those who can't get on much, but lots of activities for those who spend a lot of their day browsing ssforum. -------------------------------------SS Navigation Bar------------------------------------- The Navigation bar got a HUGE overhaul recently, and is now finalized. It has all the major websites and zones now added to it with updated links, and even has a section for new players to find all the information they need to get started. If you'd like to add it to your website, see http://network.sscentral.com for the code, and just paste it into the head section of your website. Any questions, again, feel free to e-mail me or contact me on the forums. -------------------------------------SSForum Stats-------------------------------------Registered Users: 4172Total Posts: 154398 -------------------------------------Handy Links-------------------------------------Board Address: http://www.ssforum.net/index.phpLog In: http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?act=Login&CODE=00Lost Password Recovery: http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?act=Reg&CODE=10 PoLiXSSCentral.com AdministratorSSForum.net Administrator
