The stupid tech guy seemed to think there was a problem with my xbox and that I should contact Xbox tech support. I then attempted to again say that It was NOT an xbox problem, and that they would tell me to talk to you again. Then he said, well its a technical problem, and I can't help you... »Lynx Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 Worst people I've had to deal with are the PCWorld Tech Support guys, or what the !@#$%^&* ever they call themselves. My aunt bought a laptop, however there was a problem with the RAM (I checked the error beep codes to match the BIOS, I could have fixed it but I didn't want to open it incase it voided any warranty) - anyway, she asked me to take it back and see what I could do... So I was like, fine - this is a pretty open/shut case, she's only had it a day - I should be able to get a new one. I drive to PCWorld, and I tell them that the RAM in this laptop is faulty, and I'd like a different laptop. Anyway, this greasy pizza-faced nerd takes the laptop and mumbles something about the motherboard before walking away with it, leaving me standing there like a lemon for ten minutes, so I call him back and ask him what's going on. He told me that he's going to re-install the OS. I say, well that's very nice but I'm not going to wait here for a couple hours staring into space while you *TRY* to re-install the OS on a computer that won't boot, give me a different laptop and you can just send that one back to the manufacturer, it's a textbook RAM error, and can be fixed easily but I've not got the time and since the thing was only bought yesterday - I am well within my rights to ask for my money back or have a replacement. He asks me to wait to talk to the manager. I wait.... And wait.... And lose my patience (after 20 minutes or so) - I call him back and say 'Well where is this manager of yours, I've been at the store for a half hour now and I've still got nothing to show for it, other than you trying to boot a computer that won't bloody boot' - before I could finish the manager comes over... He inspects the computer, and thinks it's the Hard Drive... I feel like !@#$%^&*ing !@#$%^&*!@#$%^&*inating this !@#$%^&*got. I explain to him... 'It's not the Hard drive, or the OS, or the motherboard, or the screen, or anything else... It's the RAM... It's a simple thing to correct, but it's not my job to correct it, it's yours. Now please, can you just give me a different laptop so I can go home' ... Anyway, he then gives me some story that he's not authorised to complete refunds or exchanges... I ask him 'Well who is?' he says... 'The manager'... I say, well who the !@#$%^&* are you, he told me you're the manager - then he tells me that the manger is on the phone out back, so I tell him to get his manager off the !@#$%^&*ing phone and out here... Thankfully, he listens. Within a minute of his manager coming out he says 'Ooh, the laptop - yeah, some have had to be recalled for faulty memory, just do an exchange' I was tempted to complain about his re!@#$%^&*ed 'tech guys' but felt too bloody smug about the outcome, so I left peacefully. But I know I'll never go PCWorld again. -Lynx
X`terrania Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 The worst ever is called Bell Canada, their technical support is horrid - and now they're outsourcing for god's sake! First I had to deal with the French support who could barely speak English, and now I've got some Hindu guy preaching to me about how I should try plugging my modem into every phonejack in the house!!

First I had to deal with the French support who could barely speak English, and now I've got some Hindu guy preaching to me about how I should try plugging my modem into every phonejack in the house!!LOL My friends who used to use Bell all complains about everytime theres a problem. They ask you to unplug and replug every phonejack in the house I also had problems with Sears....!@#$%^&*ty CR. All they do is forward you to another person and some times randomly cut you off when my water heater was leaking. Took me like about 10 days to get a replacement cause they keep saying someone will contact me. Ended up taking about a week for someone to call me back....really useless people unless you ask to talk to a supervisor or manager. Edited November 20, 2008 by Suicide_Run
X`terrania Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 Rofl. I remember this one time I had some really re!@#$%^&*ed guy answer my tech support call: he asked if the lights on the modem were on, all four of them - and when I said yes he asked if I had the modem's power plug plugged in.
CRe Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 Lol, worst service I've had is with Satellite TV. I called tech support and they said they were sending a guy in 3 days. 2 weeks later a guy came and said it was the trees blocking the satellite. I asked which tree and he said "We are not allowed to tell what tree it is."
PoLiX Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 Knowing windows, it was just a computer. What are you doing with your XBOX that you need media center to connect to your pc? Guess I haven't !@#$%^&*ed with mine beyond playing videos and music off my PC on my XBOX.

Delic Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 Heheh, funny stories ;D Root should've listenedInc should've suedDav should be understanding! ;DLynx should've complained to the manager I work as Technical Support. We got hardcore intensive training for 3 months and then got sent off to the phoneslike lambs to the slaughter, hahah. There's a million things you need to know and there's always new thingshappening, things changing, so you have to keep yourself up-to-date. Sometimes you'll get calls which can beconfusing; for example if someone calls about an issue that isn't really for you to handle but you're not quitesure. I'm pretty sure that's what happened in Dav's case. Maybe the guy was relatively new and wasn't able totell yet. Which is understandable if you get bombarded with information which you're supposed to be a specialistat, and then get a call from someone who's talking about the same system you support, just not that aspect of it. It seems Root got a more experienced person. I don't know if it was the same case for Dav's guy as it is for us, but with what we do the information is so extensive thatit's impossible to become a 100% effective specialist until you have at least 6-8 months of experience. And even thennew and unique things and problems appear all the time which each need to be approached and solved in their own way. gg. inc read pm
»Lynx Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 I did ask for the manager, but I just got another neanderthal. :/
rootbear75 Posted November 22, 2008 Author Report Posted November 22, 2008 Heheh, funny stories ;D Root should've listened[..]It seems Root got a more experienced person. Cancer+ Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 A straight answer? They told you to "contact someone else" which is EXACTLY what the Microsoft guy told you to do. Honestly, right now I am in customer support, and some people just DON'T UNDERSTAND. When certain people can't help you, certain people...CAN'T HELP YOU. It is the way some things are. It is like saying to a football player "Hey can you fix my three point shot?" They just can't help you.
»Lynx Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 ^^ Crappy analogy - if a football player said to me 'Hey, can you fix my three point shot' I'd be like 'Well, I'm no football player, so no', point of that is that I don't go around with a t-shirt saying 'I'm certified to fix your three point shot', the kids in PCWorld have t-shirts saying they're certified to fix my computer. The people on Microsoft Support website are "there to help you".
Samapico Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 They told him to contact the Xbox dudes, which didn't make much sense. Contacting the MS product information team makes more sense
Cancer+ Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 I would agree that he shouldn't have been referred to the Xbox guys. And I was really drunk writing that.
