I have two comments.

17th's sysops are for the most part underqualified and incapable of running a zone. (Not everyone but pretty -*BAD WORD*- close)

The "vet" population of this zone -*BAD WORD*-es way to -*BAD WORD*- much. I mean yes, in every zone that particular portion of the population tends to be a pain but oh my god, STFU.

I may be a newbie who doesn't play Jav cause its too common, and who hasn't been playing forever, and sure I lag and suck, and maybe my $0.02cents isn't strong against your $, but heres my opinion anyway blum.gif .

I don't actually know any of the old settings. I haven't been playing for 3 years. I've been playing for around 3 months. I like the current settings. If anyone thinks the current weasel isn't good enough, why not spec arcane tactics when he's hunting me? There are many good weasel players out there.

I think all ships have a place, and I've recced all of them at one stage or another. I think there are many good players (vets or not, how would I know) that have mastered the other ships.

One thing I do know as an ex-chaos player, is that one map...forever...is very tedious. I could do with a change to 17th.

I probably would quit 17th if the old weasel was introduced. I like the settings as they are. I dont want an unco-one-hit-kills ship on the loose to ruin my stats.

p.s. if jav's are so great, why can't people rec them to 4016 bty like my warbird? :D

i've grown accustomed to the current settings, but they're just not as fun as the old ones. and i think its because of a lack of diversity. although "all ships have a place," most can be used effectively using similar tactics, which is what originally drove me away from some other zones. its gotten quite boring. what was so great, imo, about the old settings was the diversity in each ship. you had to change strategies and ships to accomodate what was going on around you, and you were always alert, whereas now, you can take on almost any enemy without worrying about what they're flying (unless they're cloaked and you don't have x, of course).

the map has also grown rather boring. but i never noticed that problem with the old sets. maybe it's just because i was still new to ss back then, but i think the map was well designed for the old settings and doesn't work as well with the new ones. back then, most ships weren't designed for stray duels in the spawn area, and i often felt more comfortable fighting in the bases. i never got bored, but instead tried to develop new tactics to use the base to its fullest in the heavy battles that constant;y waged over the goals.

I've noticed many people whining about the loss of the old jav (i guess that's a bit of an undestatement), but this is what i really missed about the old settings.

and about the old weasel: i found it a lot less annoying than the current one. rarely did i see them massing in great numbers, but when i did, a change to terr for about 5 minutes dettered them for quite a while (it had x radar and antiwarp, defeating the only advantages the old weasel actually had). in addition, the old weasel was a -*BAD WORD*- of a lot more fun to fly than the current one.

as far as the old weasel is concerned, if your really worried that if introduced it will ruin your ability to rec, the only ships it rly threatened were the javs and the levis, everything else had x or could cloak, In fact, I loved having the old weasels around coz i would rec off them. but then again im prolly one of only two people who doesnt mind them (me and cecil)

This is the internet, nobody reads anything anyonw else posts. We just type meaningless pieces of information just to feel important.

That is true, there are a lot of people who whine about cloakers, but never played in a cloaking ship themselves.

As suggested earlier, if somebody has a problem with cloakers either switch to a ship with X or switch to a ship with cloak. Usually when you deny the cloakers the advantage, they switch ships.
