I gotta agree with Sever on his post here met, he puts a very strong case forward, that being, MSBL wasnt as good as it could of been, prehaps if we had older settings or another tweaking to them for the league but that shouldnt happen. A league shouldnt need to change its ships, they should be the same because no one can complain then.

Its said over and over again, yet its the main point, its the main problem. The ship settings NEED to be sorted,. Whether they go back to the old settings or are changed to more balanced BUT at the same time unique settings of the future, and our old 17th settings are a perfect example of that.

If a upper staffer who controlled the ship settings (if that be Vile then he should in my opinion) got off his high horse and did something to the ship settins, then I would not complain as much, but something needs to be done upon that point.

Which brings me onto my final point. Someone, change the weasel lol. I really couldnt need much problem with the old weasel but it seems a few people complained and the whole settings are changed! Yet the new weasel isnt as good as the old weasel either. It has too much of a speed incrase that in canbe unkillable, but makes alot of ships defenceless to the fact you cant get away from them, as well as its other 'tweaks' to this little ship.

Put in the weasel from 2v2, be much more fun :-) Plus it would then gain its role back as anti-javelin, and be more equal against other ships, and need a little more brainpower to use O.o

Oh well thats it

In msbl, there was very very fair combat.  Everyone could choose 4 of the 8 ships, and use them against each other in a TEAM battle.  If you were smart about it, you could defend yourself against any ship that would come your way.  Maybe not individually, but as a TEAM.  A jav is very hard to fly against a weasel, but if it has a lanc supporting it, the weasel pilot would have to be extremely good to survive, let alone pull off a kill.

In MSBL? MSL WAS A TOTAL FLOP! 3 ships had cloak and stealth. 3 SHIPS! 3 OUT OF 8! That is 37.5% of the ships. So that means that if the enemy team has 2-3 player show-up, the whole -*BAD WORD*-ing team could cloak. That means that your team was FORCED to use a ship with X-Radar. You call that fair? The Weasel was way overpowered, 17th Parallel just doesn't have a good balanced shipset for MSBL, so don't use MSBL as an argument.

As long as the jav doesn't change too drastically and the weasel doesnt go back to the one-hit kill bombs I think the setings are in good shape overall.

The old 1-hit-kill Weasel is elite. I want it back

The old weasel took the most skill....a piece of lanc shrap could kill it with given the random damage it has now in pub.

You all fail to understand that just because you sucked in the old weasel...doesn't mean you should flame it. I understand all you people who don't play jav and play other ships think the jav is by far the gayest killing/vulch ship in the world. So what the weasel killed the jav with ease...Boo hoo

Honestly, I think all you people who sit there flaming a ship which has been dead over a year are pathetic. It's gone and it won't be comming back due to newb complaints.

I would be satisfied with just the bomb, speed, turning speed...No guns, stealth or cloak. Want to know why? Because its takes skill...and I used to have that skill. You would see most idiots trying to fly and not knowing how to use walls to their advantage. Me, Madhaha, 02thx(I think thats his name), and Lubed !@#$%^&*!@#$%^&*in were the best in the zone in my opinion. We pissed people off, and they led to change.

I blame Zeke and his idiot ideas for changing the zone into this piece of -*BAD WORD*-. HOLY -*BAD WORD*-! a 1x1 Tile ship? LEts do it! I am sure he didn't know there would be a server switch and the Euros(no offense) would be lagging...but regardless...lets take some thought into this..

Most people who play subspace know that...

  • subspace/CTM is a low Bandwidth game
  • The game is 5 megs(not including zone maps and stuff)
  • Multiple zones with different pings in each.
  • SOMEONE WHO LAGS IS HARD TO KILL

Take my Number 4 on the list there...Laggers are hard to kill...now take this 1x1 ship...WOW...Whoes idiot Idea was this...I don't care...but it was a stupid idea.

This game is appealing to 56kers due to the 5 meg download...thats like 45 minutes! WOW!

Many of my points don't belong in this topic...but I don't care..just my thoughts.

And Cencil, you are one of the reasons why I like proper veterans who speak the truth. I wouldnt class myself as a big time vet, I like to feel I know something about this zone, especially when it ws better in hte olden days ~Bliss~ but unfortunatly things have changed for the worse.

Its people like you who are keeping this zone with the memories and prehaps hopes that it will return to its former self or something similar which we will like once again.

Until then, keep on hoping smile.gif

(And who's that Aileron guy who keeps popping in with that stupid anime avatar O.o')

First off I'll point out that I don't even like anime, why I have this avatar is anybody's guess and I am too lazy to change it.

That said, I'll see if I can answer the question "Who is Aileron?".

Aileron is essentially the one-man Subspace equivolent of a plague of locusts. Aileron will travel from zone to zone bringing havok and mayham to their inhabitants, before quickly moving on to spread the pain elseware. He is truly beyond 1337. Instead of mastering a specific ship's strategy or even a zone's strategy, Aileron has mastered general skillz which apply to all zones. Thus, when Aileron plays he does not play under what the inhabitants are used to facing. Instead, he will strike with the weapons often overlooked. He uses specials to devastating effect, and is practically invincible until he has consumed at least half of them. He possesses phenomenal dodging ability, which when coupled with lag and a love for 1 tile wide ships makes him a hard target.

Why Aileron has come to 17th Parallel? The motives for Aileron's near-continuous zone-jumping will remain secret, for Aileron fears that once sysops can track his movements they will prevent him from coming to their zones. Aileron has only been playing in 17th for a few weeks, and has already consistantly laid the smack-down on several local veterans. One would be well advised not to piss this player off, because his wrath is something thankfully never seen by most of the Subspace Community.

-Needless to say, I have a lot of time to waste at the moment.

Now back to the topic.

As for the 1 tile wide weasel, get used to one tile wide ships. Ever since the ship size has been able to be changed, most zones have designated one ship as 1 tile wide. To fight a one tile wide ship requires a slight change in strategy. Use weapons that allow greater inaccuracy. Turn on multifire. Scatter your bullets in wide clouds instead of steady streams. And above all, do not even bother to fire a non-prox bomb unless you plan on wallbombing them. In most of these cases, it means sacrificing a little damage done to the opponant in the end. However, most 1 tile wide ships can't take much damage anyway.

As for there being 3 cloak ships, you only need 1. Since it would suck to take ALL of the cloakers out of the zone, and it doesn't really matter if there are 1, 3, or even 6 cloaking ship types, then there really is no problem. If you really have that much of a problem with cloakers, change to a Warbird, but fly with the X off most of the time. That way, you maintain about 95% of the fighting capability, can deal with those pesky cloakers, and even get a few specials out of it.

Well I have no problem with cloakers in pub. However when they are put into a league all about killing skills and not basing skills things get a little stupid. In leagues ship-changing isn't an option and with only 2 x-radar ships it doesn't make alot of difference when you are not allowed more than one of a ship. 3 cloakers is too many. My proposed solution:

1. Remove the sharks cloak and stealth and give it a repel and +50 energy.

2. Remove only the spiders stealth so a player would have to use radar to spot them. Since spiders have portals anyway this shouldn't hurt them a great deal. Also give them +50 energy.

Problem: You change the spider and shark settings around, and you will probably get alot of negative feedback. It will be extra complaints ALL over again ^_^ unless its just for league, but then people might complain its not a pub league then, and they arent the actual ships from public

and Aileron, uh, ok smile.gif lol Although no doubt you have beaten most people who consider themelves veterans. Most of our veterans have left the zone, and those let I would say are on the verge of leaving. Its a shame ;) This zone has lost alot of skill it once had, and alot of skillful players.

Well i was proposing the changes to be made in pub so that we could have improved leagues. I am a shark player and couldn't care a great deal if i lost stealth and cloak in exchange for a repel and a bit more energy. The spider players may give more negative feedback but it is only stealth they'd be losing so they can still creep up on unexperienced players to kill but they'd have to use portals more effectively to catch out the experienced players. With 50 more energy it should keep some sort of balance.. afterall they have wicked guns too.

yeh but if you change just the lanc the terr and the jav the rest of the ships become obsolete, and three ships dont make a zone. i agree that the other ships might have used some tweaking but why dwell on it ;) bring em all back, I say
