Samapico Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 Oh, how awesome, you can make photos wiggle around. Most of the video is just features of Google Earth or whatever that program is. The rest is just what anyone can do with a standard touchscreen.Only thing you can do with 2 fingers at a time is... zoom (wow, yay), and play piano
»SD>Big Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 maybe i'm wrong, but i thought that those circle menus were going to be a new feature of windows 7 and not proprietary to google earth. its a cool feature
Samapico Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 I meant like, all the zooming and clicking around. It looks very fancy, but most of that eye-candy is not because of windows
»SD>Big Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 i think the main feature of it is the way it allocates memory top open windows, it does some sort of smart management to the extent that you'll only need say 1 gig of memory to run it which is pretty good considering vista
tcsoccerman Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 It said unavailable, but i'm fairly positive this has relations with Microsoft Surface, which i've been keeping tabs on by reading the blog for some time now.
Sketter Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 There is still a long way to go before you see Surface (in the manner shown) in the everyday home use. I can see it being used hotel lobbies, work presentation, and so on as a commercial use. The structure of a computer, and what Surface is, are different things.... this is more of a new type of product all together, not another version of a computer. But this is something M$ should keep investing in.
tcsoccerman Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 Oh, it will definatley be at least 2 years until they are seen in households. Only a couple major businesses have them, i think Hilton Hotels is one. NBC i think used it as well during the election. 10,000 dollars!
rootbear75 Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 if anyone's seen CNN's new touchscreen they were using during the election...
Sketter Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 (edited) Oh, it will definatley be at least 2 years until they are seen in households. Longer. There really isn't a piratical use for one. It's not a computer where you need one to recive emails, prints, games, shop, bank and so on.There is no vital importance to have Surface other then eye candy. The avg Joe won't be needing one. I'm looking at 5-10 years. Edited November 8, 2008 by Sketter
tcsoccerman Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 There's so many possibilities with surface that there eventually will be very good reasons for an average joe to buy it. Once the sdk is released, people will be making never heard of before software.
Dav Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 I think touch screen is a nice concept but i doubt windows 7 will be the end of the mouse.
Samapico Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 Imagine having 2 kids using a touchscreen computer... How much time until the whole screen is filled with greasy !@#$%^&*?
tcsoccerman Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 On track again with microsoft surface, i've started a website at www.surfacehq.com.
»Lynx Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 Apple's Microsoft's Multi-touch screens! COOL! -Lynx
