Hate The Fake Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Im looking to make my own tiles and i noticed some maps look like they upload them, how can i upload tiles? Like full snowmen ect
RiiStar Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 (edited) TileEdit - Old alternative Program for Editing tilesets stored in LVL's. DCME has one built in to it.Press Ctrl + E or from the menubar click Edit > Edit TilesetThe beta/newer version has a button above the tileset as a shortcut to the editor also. The tiles themselves are just a bitmap picture, which you can obtain from an LVL using DCME.Open a map and goto File > Export Tileset this will let you save the tileset of the current map as a bitmap. Now you can either 1. edit it with an image editor of your choice or 2. Open the Tileset editor in DCME. http://www.trenchwars.org/twdev/images/tedit.jpg The top Box is the current map's Tileset, the bottom is for the image you load in to edit/transfer.You can drag and select either a single tile or a group of tiles, shown by the outline boxes above... When you have the tiles you want to change/move right click on the tile or group and drag to the top box of the current tileset.Drop em and they'll replace the ones where you dropped em. All done. For more custom tiles you need to save the tileset as a bmp from the export option and edit them with your image editing programs. The Image edit in DCME was buggy and now Sama has removed it in the up and coming releases. Oh and if you make a tileset with ur Fav image editor, save it as a BMP and goto File > import Tileset and its put in ur map! Hope that helps. Edited November 4, 2008 by RiiStar
Hate The Fake Posted November 5, 2008 Author Report Posted November 5, 2008 yea i have tile edit but i notice in maps like ?go xmas they have snowmen and santa clauses, id like to figure out how to change a picture into usable tiles, sorry if i didnt word this correctly in the first post
Samapico Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 Read what he said after the first line, it describes how to change your tileset and import images from other files in your tileset. There's another thing, however, called LVZ's, that allow you to put images of any size on the map. These can also be animated. Just download the latest beta version. Over the tileset, you'll see a "LVZ" tab, go there. Right-click in the area and add an image. There you can import an image in the LVZ library, and then you can select it like a tile, and draw with it.Note that these are just images, they are NOT tiles. If you want them to appear solid, you'll have to draw solid tiles under them.
Hate The Fake Posted November 5, 2008 Author Report Posted November 5, 2008 Read what he said after the first line, it describes how to change your tileset and import images from other files in your tileset. once again i did, i know you can import and copy tiles from other tile sets. I want the ability to bring in tiles like these: http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh46/jrocko3/tile.jpg
Samapico Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 he top Box is the current map's Tileset, the bottom is for the image you load in to edit/transfer.You can drag and select either a single tile or a group of tiles, shown by the outline boxes above...There's an 'Open' icon just above it, use that to load any image you want, then you can drag parts of it on your tileset. That is NOT done with Subspace TileEditor or TileEdit, do that with the one built-in DCME, CTRL-E Here,s another example. I saved this image on my computer, and loaded it as a 'Source image' in DCME's tileset editor, then I took a part of it and dragged it on my tileset:http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/2893/tileseteditorea8.png
RiiStar Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 (edited) My little guide wasn't that specific, but i did hint at that If mine was worded slightly differently and then combining Our Posts we have a good little guide! Edited November 5, 2008 by RiiStar
Samapico Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 My little guide wasn't that specific, but i did hint at thatI know, that's why I told him to re-read it carefully...
Hate The Fake Posted November 7, 2008 Author Report Posted November 7, 2008 A great feature for this is to make it so you can zoom in and out the picture you upload with out having to change the pictures size in paint
Samapico Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 What I'll probably do is allow the user to edit the image in whatever program he has installed. So it would still open Paint, for example, but you'd just have to click a button, and then save it back and it would update in DCME.
