um i 100% guarantee that the end result will not be to make lanc the best ship ever for making money in but it will instead reward people who will play lanc anyway, lol

instead of returning privs, just let people use freq's 3 to 99 with 5 person limits on them... that way the team is small enough to not make a difference vs flag teams, and its small enough for ppl who want to jump on their own team to have more ppl to shoot in the center (like me smile.gif )

you know nothing about how the private freq system in Continuum works

there are 10,000 frequencies (0000-9999)

all frequencies from 0-99 are public, which means you can see the number.

all frequencies from 100-9999 are private. When you ?changeteam, it starts at 100, then goes up.

you cant see the frequency number, which is why they call it "private"

 

correct me if im wrong if 100 is public (if so then it starts at 101, etc...)

 

9999 is not a private freq.

There's a setting there Sharpflame, but I'm not actually sure if Continuum honors it or not.

 

Regardlessly, the proposed change (freqs 2+ having a different limit) could be coded, but will not be. The two team limit is there to make my testing easier, not your lives better. When all my desired changes have been implemented and I feel the system is where I want it, I will restore private frequencies. I will not restore them earlier, and I will not keep the pub-only system longer than necessary. Pubs will be restored when ready. No sooner, and no later, no matter how much you guys complain.

  • Lancasters now earn twice the normal "leech" money.
  • ?attach will give the target $10 if they have a summoner, or $5 otherwise (these fees do not apply to people targeted by ?summon).

 

These changes are designed to provide some incentive for players to use lancasters. They are NOT designed to make the Lancaster a big earner.

  • Private teams are reenabled. They have a maximum of 7 humans. Public teams are still unlimited.

While we are on the subject...

Hyperspace is dying due to the priv freqs, hasn't even been 3 hours yet.

Please remove priv teams.

without priv freqs, then this would not be true, pretty much each leech kill is about the same as killing someone from 0-3 exp, so in big flag games, a lanc is pretty much making the same amount of money/leech as if they killed themselves, so they are big earners(notice the pub freqs before priv came in, about 50% of zone is in lanc, an hr leech is almost 80k)

I don't want to stir up trouble because mods are so quick to ban me, but I do feel this is almost hilariously and blatantly obvious.

 

I joined with 0 exp and played before and after the lanc changes for an hour or two and made 75k cash and was having a great time basing with the whole zone, which was rocking. The moment, literally THE MOMENT priv freqs were enabled, the basing evaporated like fog blown off your window by hot air. Both pub freqs instantly died off to 3 or 4 people each flying around at random in the center while a SEVEN PERSON PRIV immediately grabbed the flags and ran and hid, like they usually do. After they won, it was pretty much over for the zone. I've been logging on every so often all day and it's always the same: a couple people on pubs randomly flying around, and a large priv running, hiding, overpowering any chance of anyone else doing anything, and winning while 50% of the zone is in spec afk or bored.

 

The zone was great enough that someone who thought he'd never play again (me) came back, and the instant you re-enabled privs it universally went down the crapper and the zone was consistently dead thereafter. How can this even be real and not a joke, that priv freqs will stay when they're such a bad idea?

Privs are what makes this game worth playing to me.. you could easily unite on pub freq to stop privs from winning.. lack of organization shouldn't be taken out on priv freq users.. while i'm not fond of the idea, i'd much rather see priv freqs at maybe 4 people max, as opposed to non existant.. not being able to kill in center for hours on end is pretty lame.. basing gets old fast to a fair ammount of people, myself included.

The reason privs are so called "killing" the zone, is because you people are grown to hopping and stacking teams. If you actually bothered to use your heads for a second, and realized hey, maybe I should stop being a leeching prick, you'd have been able to muster the strength to form a decent group of people to base with. But no, alas the mentality of you people are like, hey, they're a priv, they're always better than us. Even though we can outnumber them 12 to 6, what's the point, I can't do !@#$%^&* it's imbalanced cry cry cry. Um, no. The reason the privs are 'killing' the zone is because GOOD PLAYERS GO TO PRIVS. If we were to organize a pub, increase our skill and trick out our ships to beat the privs, we would become good, and then - GO TO A PRIV! I have no idea why people like Emit think there are magically 12+ good people available to 'muster the strength' to organize a pub. I know that if I had the ships and money and teammates to organize correctly, I'd go to a priv, too. We all would. Unfortunately, that effect is what makes HS dead. Everyone scatters into small teams, raising the required population for HS to be 'alive' dramatically. While privs were gone, 14 people in the zone was a guaranteed 7v7. Amazing. Throw privs in, it turns into 2v3v6v3. Nothing happens. THINK! *slap*

Seconds after the change, you'd made up your mind, before there was any evidence to support your claims. Thankfully, the zone isn't run by you, and I'm going to let things settle out as they should. Changes take days to reach a point where they can be objectively evaluated.

 

You've lost all credibility (what little you had). You say it "universally went down the crapper", but the population stats don't back you up. The zone was more populated today than any other day in the past few weeks. I don't think population is a reliable indicator, but everyone else that frequents this board does, so I'm happy to play along when it agrees with my theories.

I was off and on when it happened, well sorta, nothing really changed, basing is still there. I think most vets will comeback because of it, which gives everyone a challenge. Step up and play the game. Doc has said many times that the zone will change and the changes will take a while to get use to. Seven player priv vs 10 player pub, pub should be able to take hands down, while the pub freq will get bigger. Ya I know what your going to say, "But they have maxed out ships". A complete newb will come to the zone and own people in center, making exp and yes making lots of money. When I was using a stock ship I was able to get 100+ bounty, if I could do it anyone can. Made easily 500-1,000 exp that day. Hyperspace is a zone that will change a lot, you just gotta learn how to deal with it; enjoy the zone while it's here and while subspace is populated.
