Aceflyer Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 The link bar has ASSS spelled as ASSS. Please correct this. There's nothing wrong with spelling ASSS as ASSS. Incorrect. You seem to be living in an alternate reality.
Dr Brain Posted October 19, 2008 Author Report Posted October 19, 2008 You can say there's nothing wrong with spelling You as U, but that doesn't make you correct.
Aceflyer Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 You can say there's nothing wrong with spelling You as U, but that doesn't make you correct. You can raise red herrings all day long, but that doesn't make you correct.
L.C. Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 I don't agree with Brain either. Comparing ASSS->!@#$%^&*S to You->U is like comparing apples and oranges.
Dr Brain Posted October 19, 2008 Author Report Posted October 19, 2008 How about this: those links in the link bar all go to sites that say ASSS. That should be enough to make my case.
PoLiX Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 Updated. Funny enough, noone ever noticed Subchat and Starlight's links we're backwards.
Samapico Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 ASSS is the ghetto way of saying ASSS, indeed.
rootbear75 Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 (edited) if i ever did talk in public about the project, i'd feel less silly saying ASSS instead of !@#$%^&* because then people will say, "Oh, he's talking about a project of some kind," instead of, "He wanted to do what with an !@#$%^&*?" also, why'd it have to be A Small Subspace Server... that's as bad as making an anti-gay group named Fathers Against Gay Sex Edited October 20, 2008 by rootbear75
Hakaku Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Root, it's !@#$%^&*S. And the subtle humour in the naming shouldn't surprise you, considering the BanG, or CLT/!@#$%^&* being widespread abbreviations for the Continuum Level Editor. But honestly, the only person who cares about ASSS being abbreviated to ASSS is Brain, and MGB too at one point. I just think it's ridiculous to have a hairy bird over it, considering it's been around for as long as '!@#$%^&*S' has been.!@#$%^&*S = ASSS'nuff said
Samapico Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 I do think 'official' sites or links should say '!@#$%^&*S', as it's the official name. ASSS is just an abbreviated acronym; it's fine when you talk about it or whatever, but it's best for official links to say ASSS imo.
Aceflyer Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 (edited) I consider it slightly ridiculous to agonize over 'official' names, sites, or links in the context of a free MMO game that is inherently unofficial. Agonizing over such things is probably a waste of time; it's why I've never complained about the 'MERVBot' link being written 'MervBot', for instance. But that is just me. Aceflyer Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 (edited) Who's agonizing? I didn't want to name names, but since you asked... it's Dr Brain, of course. He has a long history of agonizing over the distinction between such things as ASSS vs. ASSS, and Dr Brain vs. Dr. Brain (note the period after the 'Dr' in the 'misspelled' version). And I'm not saying Dr Brain is wrong to feel the way he does about these things. I am merely saying that in my opinion, agonizing over such things is generally a waste of time. To each his/her own. Samapico Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 I still don't see the agony in his behavior, spelling nazi, maybe, but agonizing? Anyway. Thread closed, it's fixed and all
