Ideas For Repopulation

As posted in tw, we need to get subspace back up and running like it used to. Heres a list of ideas also found on: http://forums.trenchwars.org/showthread.php?t=35186

1- Get an advertisement (at least 1 with another site, either charge them or do a link switch) Use the money from the ad to buy an ad on another site

 

2- Every time someone creates a name we enter an email address. Go back through the data base and send a "return to subspace" email to them all. Include the new changes that have been done to tw/or zone they were apart of.

 

3- Take in donations to advertise

 

4- Start going on sites and voting for continuum again

 

Any ideas on these or perhaps you have your own ideas. (i do remember someone was putting together a list of sites to vote on, no idea what happened there, but lets pick the ball up and go with this)

that maybe so, however my user id is UserId:3553510 (that was 2 years ago its prolly more now) so if even 1 out of every 35 have a real email thats 100,000 players who get contacted. If even 5 percent of that return thats 5 thousand players. More then enough.

Good idea for repopulation:

 

Start a email address, lside@subspace.net or lwsfal@continuum.net

 

Promote that this way if I email someone with my continuum address it has an ad at the bottom like. Welcome to continuum, you have now become hopelessly addicted. Have a nice day.

 

P.S. That is a good advertising idea

 

Also I would like an email address that says vetta64@continuum.net

Not trying to say much, but I'll link you to the 20+ other threads just like this for ideas if you'd like. And those are only a few if you take us losing almost ,000 posts out of general a few years back, and being around 100 others then.

subspace wont ever be repopulated unless you get kids 10-15 to start, in which case they play for 5-10 years and quit

whats the point of spending 400 dollars (recently was done to get people to try out a zone, i remember the spam i received from it) to advertise a zone when noone has !@#$%^&* for people anymore. You can spend half that money and get at least 500 new people.

Some players may return, keyword some, as rootbear said most don't use a real email address when joining. And we really don't have access to the database to do that which would be dependent on PriitK and hes just hard to contact. Though I'm pretty sure the admins could send a newsletter through ssf.

I got some people back when .40 came out spamming the forums m!@#$%^&* e-mail and forcing it to ignore people who opted out of it.

 

Thing is, I don't even play anymore. Just come on to check these forums, see if anyone has been online in game I need, and yeah.

Like 99% of these ideas are just repeated thoughts. I think most people in this community are well aware of all the possible ways if not most ways of advertising the game. The excuse that I see this community pull out of its !@#$%^&* is that, "oh no! if we get too many people, SSC will crash!"

 

I think that's a bullsh*t excuse, but whatever. One person can't make a difference.

 

If this offends anyone, the offense wasn't intended. ;o

I don't see any plausible benefit to the game or community by implementing vetta's idea anyhow. People aren't going to use Continuum email addresses for anything other than emails to their Continuum (e-)friends. I have a @getcontinuum.com email so I know this from personal experience.

Well, alot of us use to use our ds98 e-mails for a lot of stuff. So really if it was a subspace involved domain, but maybe not directly related, might work.
