Yes, it is possible for an antivirus to make a false positive. It's also very possible for the antivirus to go ape!@#$%^&* and move Continuum.exe to a quarantine folder without your consent. What about the people who had viruses, got rid of them, and SS still doesn't want to run?

 

In a nuts!@#$%^&*, disable (FIRST) or uninstall your antivirus. Download Cont again and install to a bunk directory (c:\ss). Copy Continuum.exe and paste it in the old directory. It should work. I've managed to mess Vista up three times in two days, this is the only way I've found to work if the antivirus flags and/or quarantines the Continuum.exe.

What AntiVirus are you using? You should be able to put Continuum on the exceptions list, or send the Continuum installer to the company so that they stop marking it down as a virus. If your problem isn't the antivirus itself, but rather 'vista', then you should check this referenced post instead.

The problem has nothing to do with Vista.

 

I have had problems with my AV marking Continuum.exe as a virus. it has NOTHING to do with vista.

The problem lies in the installer software that Priit used. I was told by my AV company that the specific version of installer used is used by many malware writers, which is why it decides to rather be safe than sorry.

 

Solution: Send a copy of the installer and your continuum.exe to your AV company. Wait for definitions update. Play.
