Some ships I made, I kinda rushed the Spider, and the Other one is my own creation. I went kinda crazy with the design and the outer portion is a retractable shield.

P.S. Raine is my alternate alias

Do I sense jealousy? blum.gif They do look kinda small though, because of the GI. But IMO these have a better texturing job than any other one on the site

Wait. They're models? They actualy look like cardboard cutout models. If I get a good digital camera I'll get a pic of the WB I did.

i like the first one (the blue). Reminds me of the Alien Ship in hardwar, but cooler looking

Ahh the stallion.. I got alot better since that thing heh. I should redo it. Your ship is pretty cool, but the biggest flaw in most of the current ships are their sloppy texturing jobs. Do you know how to UV-Map models?

Eww bryce. Heh, its pretty good, but its high poly and this is kinda a gaming forum :(

Dont even get me started on high poly renders :D

Actually, it's 3DS_Max, and that image took about 2 hrs to render at that res... mostly because of the ship texture (both reflect AND refract textures combinred with environment fog.)

Now if you wanna see the 20 sec movie: click here (5 megs, 320x240, no audio.)

i have no idea how to create terrain in 3ds max :'(

but i do some -*BAD WORD*- good bruce stuff

-1 million poly? ...no sweat !

also, where did u get that movie animation, where did u get the ship model, i'd be interested in doing somesolar system pics and planets if you needed, im working on one right now

All made entirely from scratch, by me.

For the terrain, I made a 1-sided plane about 1,000 x 1,000 intersects (maybe more, can't remember off the top of my head, and it takes forever to open the scene in Max.) Then apply noise to it, and tweak the amplitude settings: whoala Terrain. Texture was "cell" (internal texture, rather than a raster image,) but you could use any number of the internal ones... just play with it. I liked cell because you could set multiple colors for it.

For the water: repeat as above but MUCH less amplitude on the noise, and use reflect texture with a bunch of transparency (you can use refract too, but the effect is way overpowering unless you lower it till it's barely noticable, and at that point, it's not worth adding the render time for it.) But if you watch the movie, the water's "noise" keyframes actually change over time, which gives it a flowing effect.

I don't really mess with this scene much any more, cuz it's just a hog to open and work with.

Immediately after that project (just to master reflective texture and chrome effects,) I did this one:

that is just amazing, i hope i get that good, however, thse took me about 1 1/2 hours to make, but i did the one with the supernova first. that was entirely made out of volumetric objects (don't ask me why) but the rest took under a minute, but the whole scene was just over 4000 poly, 3 ships, and a sphere and 1 extra light

sorry that {=^=} one got a bit dark, it had these green stars, 3 volumetric cubes makes a lot of stars
