CRe Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/story...13/2008:11:00PM With like nerds you'd expect them to think about hackers.
X`terrania Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 Lol, ? There's been like over 1000s of Scientists working on this thing for like twenty years.. Luckily the hackers were good ones, and were only demonstrating how weak of a security system we had set up.
Samapico Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 They found that a Greek group had hacked into the facility and signed off with a "don't mess with us" warningHow, and why would they mess with them lol?
Suicide_Run Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 Shouldn't they separate the main controls for the project from external connections? I guess silly nerds don't think about hackers...too concentrated about science
Dav Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 why would they hack into something like that? They have very little to gain unless they want to make the black hole happen i guess. Shouldn't they separate the main controls for the project from external connections? I guess silly nerds don't think about hackers...too concentrated about science Doing this is not really possible, it links its main core to many other worldwide research facilities to spread the load of the data processing.
Samapico Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 I can see how the output (sensors and stuff) are linked to the facilities, but the input controls themselves don't need to be
»doc flabby Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 (edited) If google a bit more it turns out they never breached the actual security of the computers controlling the machine but rather an outer network. I can see how the output (sensors and stuff) are linked to the facilities, but the input controls themselves don't need to beBecause it enables scientists to be able to run experiments without having to be on site. PoLiX Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 so when the blackholes do open up they have time to hop in their little spaceships and fly to the secret space station on the moon. Once the earth is sucked in the moon has a big booster rocket so it can shoot off into space... But back to reality, something so big, you think would be locked down more. But then again, look at how many times the CIA or FBI have been hacked.
Suicide_Run Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 Well I hope a black hole does appear.....then we can all be wiped out all at once! Would be very interesting
CRe Posted September 14, 2008 Author Report Posted September 14, 2008 Yeah it would be cool for .000000000000000000003 seconds and then we would be like "OMG I DON'T WANNA DIE!!!!"
Dav Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 Well I hope a black hole does appear.....then we can all be wiped out all at once! Would be very interesting even if they do open up they will be so small they just collapse again instantly, and the scientists cream themselves over the data they collect.
Dr Brain Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 Polix, the moon and artificial satellites would be unaffected by the Earth turning into a black hole (since the m!@#$%^&* of the earth hasn't changed), so they don't even need a booster rocket on the moon.
Samapico Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 And what if 'Earth and a bit more' turned into a black hole?
Dr Brain Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 And what if 'Earth and a bit more' turned into a black hole? The density of the Earth doesn't matter to objects far away. Only the mass A black hole doesn't have more m!@#$%^&* than the star that created it, it's simply more dense, so objects falling into it can't escape. It doesn't pull anything into it that it wouldn't have when it was a star. So any planets will continue to rotate around it unaffected, just as the moon would continue to rotate around the earth.
JDS Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 (edited) its amazing how you talk about black holes as if you YOU are correct.. as if you or anyone else has ever 'seen' one talk with less authority you piece of !@#$%^&*, dr.brain. on topic, everyone is at risk of these horrible hackers! they should all be hung edit:just as the moon would continue to rotate around the earth. and besides, if the earth was no longer 'there' if it got sucked into a black hole whatever. the moon would have nothing to rotate around anyway, so it would whiz off in some direction as a result Edited September 15, 2008 by JDS

JDS Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 (edited) do you know this? edit : w8 has someone rly seen a black hole Edited September 15, 2008 by JDS
Dr Brain Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 General Relativity (the study of gravity) has been experimentally confirmed thousands of times. It might only be 99.9999% correct, but that small uncertainty isn't enough to invalidate anything above the quantum level (subatomic, unlike the moon).
Guest bhuvana Posted September 26, 2008 Report Posted September 26, 2008 for an experiment which is expected to make a revolution in the field of astronomy .the minimal effort has been put to its safety .they should have taken extra care to avoid any hackers from entering into the experiment.now they has to concentrate on the security in the form of data transactions and should ensure no further damages caused by the hackers

Samapico Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 Advertise junk links even if they did advertise in a very subtle way...
Aceflyer Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 ...very subtle way. In other news, the LHC has been shut down and will not resume operations until the spring of 2009.
