FMBI Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Lumping the secondary forums into "Other" has pretty much killed Politics and, as far as I can tell, largely decreased traffic to Lounge. Split 'em up again, what say? - Fin
Aceflyer Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Personally, I haven't noticed any significant decrease in traffic to either World Discussion or Spam Lounge. World Discussion hasn't been as active recently as it has been in the past, but it reached its current activity level before it was made into a subboard.
CRe Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Yeah World discussion was just as dead before. Anyways I liked the old setup better.
PoLiX Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 The thing is, for the most part, the bots ignore a lot of subforums. SSForum is using the same amount of bandwidth per month that SSDL does... that is kind of sad seeing as we are mostly just text. Granted only about 20-30% of our hits are bots, but still, that is far far too much b/w for as dead as we have been lately. I'm just trying this for a week or 2 to see if our bandwidth decreases. Though I wanted the spam lounge off the front page, and General Development moved up near General Discussion to promote it more.
FMBI Posted August 31, 2008 Author Report Posted August 31, 2008 (edited) Ah, I guess that makes sense. I !@#$%^&*umed it was just done to make the front page smaller. Although, @Ace & Cre, I do disagree with the !@#$%^&*essment of WD's activity levels. It always goes faster at certain times, but going several days without a significant topic, and letting all the old ones just die? That's not normal at all.
