I have the same problem (hyperspace) but I HAVE updated the zones. A bunch of them still show up as red, zones that I know aren't down.

I'm using:

sscentral.sscuservers.net

sscentral.trenchwars.org

sscentral.subspacedownloads.com

as server directories incase that's an issue.

Two of those directory servers are wrong, copy + paste this instead:

sscentral.sscuservers.net, ssdir.playsubspace.com, warpath.bluetoast.org, sharvil.nanavati.net, dir.cz.sshq.net

Also, before downloading a zone, first remove it from the list (double click the zone's name so that it's not green), then click the download button and re-add the zones you want.

In addition to this, make sure Continuum isn't being blocked by any firewalls you have running. They're generally the number one cause for preventing Continuum from connecting.
