Chambahs Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 BG: But on a serious note, i bought the 4850 too, its a nice, but its huge lol. Lol.
BlueGoku Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 I was more or less looking for an opinion based on gaming and stuff. Like, "I can run Crysis with everything turned up on very high at 1920x1200 resolution with 50 FPS!!" I don't think that's actually possible, but you get my point =p.

L.C. Posted August 14, 2008 Author Report Posted August 14, 2008 Very neat. Is that video card any good? I was under the impression the nVidia cards were rocking the ATI's now.The card is pretty good, although I cannot really confirm that for you since I haven't gotten around to throwing the high-end games at it like Bioshock and Crysis. I think I have Bioshock laying around somewhere, and I might (unlikely) have Crysis lying around as well. If I do test any high end games, I'll let you know of the results. ;o From what I heard, the HD4870 X2 is actually worth buying (as it is currently the best card for buck out there). Just read up on Hardforums about the card; plenty of news! :] I was more or less looking for an opinion based on gaming and stuff. Like, "I can run Crysis with everything turned up on very high at 1920x1200 resolution with 50 FPS!!" I don't think that's actually possible, but you get my point =p.From what I have heard/read, this card should be able to handle Crysis on maxed out settings on a system similar to or as good as mind on 1024x768 with minimal or no chugging (but I don't have any sources to justify this). I would recommend going to Google and looking up something along the lines of "HD4850 benchmarks" and finding a test build that is similar to mine if possible. Benchmark data of this card should be relatively similar compared to my system should be able to do. ;o On one note, unless you change the thermal paste to the Arctic Silver compound, the card will idle at about 71C and stress at around 79C to 85C (and yes, the card can handle it perfectly fine! If you install a decent third-party VGA heatsink, you can get the idle temperatures down to 30C and stress the card at 45C -- which means this baby should be pretty ok for overclocking >:] ). By changing the Arctic Silver compound, I reduced the idle temperature of a steady 71C to around or about 64C to 66C (but it still seems to go up to 84C on stress). All that, and you can't get a connection better than 56k in your area - Lawl... -LynxEven if I had dialup, I still would have uploaded all that on dialup. I've done it before and I don't mind doing it again if I must; desperate men do desperate things sometimes, ya know.
