I was replying to rootbear, though; sorry for the lack of quotes, I was lazy... and still am, cause I haven't quoted you either. (Still not sure if it makes my post more valid, but still...)

As in if you're trying to connect to yourself using your public ip, it would make sense if you also need port forwarding

I honestly don't understand the logic. Port forwarding will only affect others, not yourself. If you're connecting to your IP, there are two different things that could happen depending on your setup. The first will send you to you router's configuration; it would technically be the same as trying to connect to 192.168.0.1 (or depending on the company, the numbers might differ). In another setup, your IP will be the same as localhost or 127.0.0.1 .

 

This would explain why Cancer+ can connect to his zones without having to add them manually using 127.0.0.1; whereas Rootbear75 has to add it manually.
