»doc flabby Posted August 5, 2008 Report Posted August 5, 2008 The idea of cource has always been to sell software as a service. So you would have to pay say 20$/mo for the privilage of using windows
FMBI Posted August 5, 2008 Author Report Posted August 5, 2008 (edited) also, afaik, there were rumors about this long ago.Having only workstations and having all of your !@#$%^&* stored online. This leads to both security and privacy issues. Old Newz Having only workstations and having all of your !@#$%^&* stored online. This leads to both security and privacy issues. Not to mention performance All true, but I also saw a few other things along this line that suggest they might actually be working towards developing it now. I also dislike the idea of having a central computer only, but I'm reasonably certain that they'd allow you to keep an independent operating system as well.. or something. PK2 Posted August 5, 2008 Report Posted August 5, 2008 (edited) LOL windows isn't going away, the government even uses it, but I rather see some other nice operating systems come to life. Edited August 5, 2008 by PK2
ThunderJam Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 LOL windows isn't going away, the government even uses itUhh the government also uses a whole ton of *nix. Anyway I didn't just say that the stuff would be held on the internet, but it did say it wouldnt be limited to a SINGLE physical PC. That could mean oriented towards home and business networks also without using the internet for storage.
»Lynx Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 They've been working toward this for a while, hence why The Cloud networks are starting to become more dominant - and they're now working on The Grid which will provide an immensely faster networking system. -Lynx
