Just to let you guys know, I plan on joining the Army next week. I'm planning on going the OCS route to become a commissioned officer, so its a lot of responsibility. (For those of you unfamiliar will the military, commissioned officers start at 2nd Lieutenant and work their way up to General. At first day I'd be responsible for making command decisions.) All that's left in terms of paperwork is an Officer Board next week, which is pretty much a job interview. After that I can ship out.

Its been months since I actually played Continuum, but this is probably goodbye altogether. I'll certainly have means to access the internet and free time to do so (for a while), but it will probably be too irresponsible to do so. I'm going to have to be the inspiring upstanding role model. I also certainly won't be able to discuss politics as much as I would want to.

Join the Marines, the army isn't the best of choices, ether the air force or the marines.

I hope you mean the Navy. Marines are usually the front runners in everything.

Either way, good luck with your career Aileron.

Good luck with your endeavours, but I was just wondering about something you said in another post... You mentioned that there's a 22% bodyfat requirement to join the army, or something like that? Are you sure that's correct, because to me that seems completely re!@#$%^&*ed, unless the bodyfat measurements in the UK differ to the ones taken in the UK?

Clue me in?

You could probably get in anyway. I forget the exact stats, but I believe something like 15% of all Army recruits are now "undesirable" in terms of drug usage, criminal record, or fitness level. You don't have that many problems, so you probably could get in even if you're a little behind physically at first.

British Marines are a bit different from American Marines. Our Marines are just the dumb guys that go in and shoot things up. blum.gif

I don't know you that well, I argue with you all the time, but I still wish you well. blum.gif Go for USASF (Green Berets) if you're up for a challenge (and a fast-track to long-term career success).

You will only be on duty for 4 to 6 months in the marines, you will be a front runner but you WILL be doing the job you in-list for. The army's training is horrible and mega_shok.gif% of death accure from army personnel.

Just trust me i know what im talking about, most of my family is in the marines, please dont listen to these people. The marines have better training and you will be better prepared. The army's training doesn't even compare going to a wrestling camp or a football camp. If you join the army and gain a rank of general or higher than joint he marines you will have to start all over again because of how horribly you will be trained.

Also the navy is fun and all if you want to be on a ship for a year and a half

you all have no clue what your talking about

Bleh, hate to disagree with you here, but I used to know a couple guys who had been in both the Army and the Marines, and they said the Army BCT was a lot harder than it was in the Marines.

My buddy joined the army for like 2 months and lost 30lbs.

Indeed. rootbear75 would probably benefit then, as he has stated, if he joined the Army. smile.gif

i lost that much in the last 2 months at my job :/

@Root: If you're joining the Army because you want to lose weight, then you're a !@#$%^&*. Join a gym. =/
