His entire platform is ridiculous, but I loved this part.

"Such a ban would make virtually no additional oil available to U.S. consumers, and would not lower oil prices that are set in a world market," the White House said. "At the same time, such export restrictions are detrimental to the efficient operation of global energy markets and would send the wrong signal to our trading partners who may face pressure to impose similar trade restrictions."

If we're so desperate to drill ANWR because it would help us gain "energy independence," why the !@#$%^&* wouldn't this "make additional oil available"? And, actually, it would lower prices, because, as the Republicans (until today) loved to point out, one barrel produced here is one barrel not bought on an international market. Reduce international demand, reduce international prices. As far as the exports - again, I thought we were establishing energy independence, not increased international dependence in a trade war we can't win.

Beyond that, who the !@#$%^&* is he talking about when he says "who may face pressure"? Who are the biggest exporters these days? Nigeria (anarchy), Russia (semi-democracy with no toleration of major policy dissent), Venezuela (almost entirely dependent on the US for income), Mexico (our little puppy), Saudi Arabia (dictatorship), Iran (already hates us), Norway (doesn't give a !@#$%^&* either way).

Bush is lying through his teeth on all of this, as far as I can tell. !@#$%^&*.

The price of oil is artificially high. So the people that brought us "Bush" don't want to lower that price. At least not yet.

""Such a ban would make virtually no additional oil available to U.S. consumers, and would not lower oil prices that are set in a world market,"" When you have a population which is 90% made up of idiots, you can say anything you like.
