»Lynx Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 Sure there's more to say - It's not out yet, and like most Sony releases, it's going to be problematic. Kinda depressing how you're paying so much more for the "way more advanced" system, and they can't even release a system which has already been created and proven on another platform. Maybe you guys are just paying through the teeth. As for PS3 - It's a better system, but as far as marketing and planning of development goes - they're about as reliable as playing basketball with a water-balloon. The very fact that FFXIII is going to be multi-platform is utter bull!@#$%^&*. In my opinion, it should have stayed on the PS3 - however, knowing the general rush of demand, it will have probably sucked as much as it's going to now suck that it's now going to be shared on platforms that are simply not the same league as the PS3. To summarise - PS3 is a better system - but their marketing, decisions, and planning of development simply !@#$%^&*ing sucks !@#$%^&*. As I said, I'll buy it when Gran Turismo comes out, as I believe that it will have proven it's self worthy to be purchased by myself. -Lynx
rootbear75 Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 The only benefits I see for the PS3 at the moment is the Blu-Ray DVD player (which is all I use mine for at the mo) and it's slightly better graphics.Which is actually the main reason it's selling right now.The PS3 is still cheaper than a lot of Blu-Ray DVD players out there.
Suicide_Run Posted July 20, 2008 Author Report Posted July 20, 2008 Lol look at this obvious troll...either that or hes a really sad kid =/
Drake7707 Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 I think there shouldn't be any exclusive games at all. If you want to play a game, buy a system for it and play it, but all other games should also run on that system. Why pay for hardware twice ? You could compare it with 3 different formats of DVDs, you'd need 3 dvd players if there are movies or episodes that are exclusive to 1 format. It was a good call for Square-Enix to go multiplatform, they reach a bigger audience and have more income to invest in future games. Let microsoft, sony and nintendo battle of which hardware to buy, but leave the games out of it
BlueGoku Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 Just for some background: I've had a 360 since December '06, though it was starting to RRoD this year so I grabbed an Elite in January. I've gotten a lot of mileage out of it. When MGS4 came out, I went out and bought a PS3. I wanted the 80gb special edition one but I couldn't find it in stock anywhere near Toronto, so I had to settle for the 40gb with no backwards compat. Oh well, my PS2 is still hooked up since my TV's got 2xHDMI and 1xVGA. But I digress, I bought the PS3 namely for MGS4, Drake's Fortune, and FFXIII. I honestly don't see why the -players- are getting so upset that FFXIII is coming for 360. Why do non-Sony employees care that it won't end up pushing out more PS3s? They're making money (as of recently anyway) so it's not like Sony will suddenly go out of business. I see no reasoning as to why one wouldn't want FFXIII available on both 360 and PS3. If you like the series you should hope that it gets as wide a release as possible, to ensure they'll keep making them. As for me, I'll probably end up getting it for PS3, just because Square is used to developing on the Playstation systems and with games recently pushing the hardware to its limit (MGS4), I think it's safe to assume the game will look spectacular and noticeably better on PS3.
Chambahs Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 Its more of a principal thing BG. If I walk down the same street to get home for 20 years of my life, and on my way home, theres always a pole at the same exact location. Now, on the 21st year, the city decides to move the poll 2 feet forward for no reason, ill be pretty annoyed. Well no, thats a bad analogy...but you get what im saying.
Samapico Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 Why be annoyed that other people can also enjoy the game? How does that affect you?
BlueGoku Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 Haha Chamb, your analogy is awesome =p. I dunno, I tend to agree with Samapico. The more exposure the game gets the better. I'd sooner be worried about square-enix closing its doors than Sony shutting the PS3 down. Besides, I'm still willing to bet the game will look better on the PS3.
Incomplete Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 It will probably look better on the PS3 but not by much. For those players who have a 360 and not a PS3 then save your money for now, the graphics aren't that much more spectacular, not worth spending the extra money for a console with slightly better graphics.
»Lynx Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 Actually, I have a whole other reason as to why FF shouldn't be on the 360 - because the 360 is the lowest denominator of the consoles, and ergo, FF won't be as good as it could have been because the game has to be the same on both platforms. Hence why GTA took longer to release - it required more work to make it work on the 360, so it could be released on both platforms with similar quality. Any other reasons to this one are just... re!@#$%^&*ed, though. -Lynx
BlueGoku Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 Actually, it's the other way around. GTA4, like the upcoming Force Unleashed, was delayed because of problems with the PS3, not the 360. The PS3, while it may have more raw power, is harder to develop on. http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/50937http://www.theforce.net/latestnews/story/d...shed_111577.asp
Suicide_Run Posted July 20, 2008 Author Report Posted July 20, 2008 I think what Square Enix did was a smart movie, they are gonna get more money for removing PS3 Exclusivity. Stupid Fanboys raging around now they can no longer boost their ego saying they own cause FFXIII is on PS3. You can get your PS3 modded to play downloaded games right? If so, 1/4 - 1/2 of the people who will play the game probably downloads it.

I confused that with more work. I was also referring to the alleged quality loss GTA suffered due to it having to conform to the lower denominator. -Lynx
BlueGoku Posted July 21, 2008 Report Posted July 21, 2008 Haven't heard anything about a quality loss. Though there's been many comparisons between the quality of the PS3 and 360 version and the 360 version comes out on top in most of them. Like I said before though, I've got both a 360 and a PS3 so I'm not trying to say the 360 is better (though I prefer it for certain games).
