FMBI Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 rofl dark, made a new topic over in WD before I saw this.
»1587200 Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 The only high speed provider in my area is Comcast, unfortunately.
»Lynx Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 This is extremely annoying, however, you can still get all of your pirating needs through other things such as the private TOR network, which uses a proxy to change your IP. Although this is slower - it is still the best way to go about it. I'm with Virgin internet, they're by far the best provider for my area (With me hitting 20MBPS near enough all the time) - and me paying a fraction of the price compared to other ISPs. I half expected this to happen though, after all there are still Virgin Mega stores, virgin TV... It's basically a small economy, and it's not surprising they're looking for their own interests as well as the "interests of it's users" by sending them threatening letters saying that they're breaking the law. It won't be long before more anonymity breaks into the "pirating" market. -Lynx
Dav Posted July 4, 2008 Author Report Posted July 4, 2008 virgin mega stores was sold recently, they are all zavvi now. They do have many TV services they want to protect from piracy though.
Hoch Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 virgin mega stores was sold recently, they are all zavvi now. They do have many TV services they want to protect from piracy though. So that's why Virgin is no longer at Piccadilly Circus! Iremember turning to my wife a while ago and askingher that there use to be a Virgin store there. She justgave me 'that' look. Oh, you know 'that' look I personally wouldn't use Virgin. As with most thingsconnected to Sir Richard Branson, they have a strongtendency to over exaggerate their network speeds. TheAdvertising Standards Authority recently admonishedVirgin for overstating download speeds and networkcapacity. What is more, I think it is hilarious that Virgingives the impression that if you sign up with them thatyou will magically have access to a fiber optic line. Butthey do like using the old * a lot -Hoch
youngbloodz Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 Virgin Media is just an terrible company, They don't even help there customers that much..I've had so many problems with my modem and they never gave me support, all they said it was my computer's fault. Get BT/Sky/O2
»Lynx Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 I get 20MBPS near enough the whole time, great customer support, no downtime... But if I do get a letter threatening me with any kind of legal action, I'll leave them. The chances of me getting such a letter are.. slim. I don't even use Torrents much any more, I prefer using Private Networks with the TOR engine. -Lynx
