Was just browsing around and looking around and stuff, and i bumped into the SubSpace review in "The Escapist" magazine. And I totally forgot my old zone "Unreal Tournament" was mentioned.

 

Was a proud moment! <3 Polix for mentioning it.

 

"They intend to focus on how varied the game can be - "In what other game can you go from playing an Unreal Tournament-style game to an Infantry-style game?" - as well as how working on a collaborative development can lead to paying jobs within the industry."

If you read the whole thing, you will see they were talking about how each zone can be customized and stuff like that. They were refferring to my gameplay and my zone. :o

Some of what I said was taken out of context... He may have not meant to, but the way he chopped some of it up, really changed a lot of what I was saying... IE: why I posted the log way back when.

I myself did some minor fixes on the LVZ and some bot fixes. But just lacked time to help finish anything more like I had wished. Gotta love work and responsibilities.

Yes, emblazon, polix and zim helped on the coding. This is true. I do not take credit for anyone else's work, just because I said my zone, doesnt mean I made the whole thing. But it was, in fact, my zone. Thats like Priitk saying TW is his zone, and then you bash him because "he didnt do any dev in it".

Nah, I wouldn't bash Priit, because I know he is at least capable of doing that stuff. You on the other hand HAVE taken credit for other peoples work and get all butthurt when I call you out on doing so.

Yeah, you certainly give credit where it's due.

I will admit that it was my mistake for missing the new subgame devs, but I've not followed Chambah's dumb!@#$%^&*ery lately as he's no longer on any of my chats. Although, I'm not entirely sure why you'd switch away from ASSS other than the whole you not being a programmer and without smong doing your work for you, you had no other way of maintaining the server... but yeah.

 

 

Regarding the article: Despite how much I hate Chambahs, it was a smart move for Polix to mention Unreal Tournament instead of the other, arguably better, zones. People who read that article are likely gamers and have probably heard of UT. Anyone even slightly interested would certainly jump at the opportunity to see an alternate implementation of their favorite game (Likewise, Halo would have been another good candidate).

 

The article in itself was cool and it's good that this game is getting publicity. But holy christ... I shouldn't be able to tell how hard someone's !@#$%^&* is by reading internet text about a friggen 10 year old 2d spaceship game. Seriously Chambahs, you're getting all puffed up over something that you are hardly responsible for. Don't you see how silly that is? If not, feel free to read this a few more times, because I'm too lazy to type more mean words at you.

1: How does saying the above, result in taking credit for other people's work?

2: Why did i switch? You are 100% right, I didnt know how to manage ASSS more than i did subgame, so i switched to what i felt was easier for me to manage. And -yes- you are right, i did like 5% of the coding for the ASSS version, but that was when i was -learning- how to code. After i gave up coding, smong did too, so i dropped it, since smong -was- the major coder.

 

But, can you honestly sit there and say, thats theres a person that does everything? Please point out an owner of a successful zone that does all the work. Or even most of it.

 

3: Im not boosting my ego, i just came across the quote and felt nostalgic and decided to share my happiness with others. Sorry for being happy cerium, even though you are deprived from it, you shouldnt ruin it for others.

 

4: If you've ever been to UT, you would see that theres a !@#$%^&*load of creds to everyone who --volunteered-- to help dev. Polix? Volunteered, Emblazon? The co-owner, TJ? Is widely known for volunteered dev work, K0zy? Wrote a couple small lines of code. T4? Came in the zone and said "Wow, this place is nice, but you'll need a better BG and a tileset to match, ill make em.", Zim? Offered to help on some plugins. Settings? 100% mine. Ideas on how to develop and make the game more fun? Mine.

Updates! Yay!

After 12 hours of straight devving we have released these new updates:

New tileset and background - After 12 hours of straight retiling! Fun fun!
(Thanks to T4 for making, Emblazon and I for retiling)
New Gameplay - Tug has been fully implemented and timer will be operational later today
(Thanks to k0zy, Polix, Zim, and Smong for plugin edits)
New Staff - Emblazon is our new Co-Owner and I have hired Manus Celer Dei.
New Lvz - I have super compressed lvz so that all new players get a smaller DL time. 
(File size went from 3 megs to 1.4ish)
Ship Settings - I have added multifire to Shock Rifle for different gun modes.

I hope everyone enjoys the new things that have been implemented, we all worked very hard
to make this possible. Big appreciation and thanks to the following:

I have to side with Chambahs on this one. Being a player in UT I recall all credit was given out towards those who helped in the news.txt, F1 I believe, and in the staff list on the bots. If you want my two cents on this all credit was given accordingly to those who helped develop it and you guys should not argue over this.

What cReEmY said. There are no indications whatsoever that Chambahs has stolen, or has attempted to steal, credit from other players.

completely agree with that. just because you thought of it first, doesnt mean !@#$%^&*

i thought on a command and conquer style zone, and 3 months later i saw that Vicarious! had made one.

And its for the better as well, since he did a !@#$%^&* of a lot better than i ever could.

Implementation is what matters. I implemented my UT ideas, you just sat there and did nothing. And this quote was taken AFTER the zone was already up and running.

If you notice he said an Unreal Tournament STYLE zone, not an Unreal Tournament zone, probably referring to the capture the flag game type. edit: Just read Polix's response, apparently I interpreted it differently than you intended.

 

Please point out an owner of a successful zone that does all the work. Or even most of it.
