[3.2.2] LVZ Properties

Hey,

I may in fact be blind, but I can't for the life of me find where to change the properties for individually placed LVZ. In older versions they were in the LVZ manager, but now when you add lvz, they do not appear in there. It would make intuitive sense if you could select individual lvz, and then the X,Y co-ordinates (in pixels) would display along with where you have the Snap to Grid, Layer Options, etc. I know for me, an easy to access X,Y co-ordinate is imperative, with the option to also fine tune the location pixel by pixel (e.g. increase X by 1, increase Y by 1 arrows, or whatever)---as well as being able to select and move a lvz based on its IMAGE#. I do like the Add Image option tho, and overall I like the lvz improvements.

Cheers,

Chalk Eagle

Apparently the LVZ manager was badly screwed up by me in the latest releases... Not sure why.

Keep in mind that the new features of 3.2.2 are not completed yet, most (if not all) of the things you mentionned were planned to be added as well.

u mean even the issues i was having is fixed? (map objects were not showing up in the map objects tab)

also i was thinking......since u r working on dcme one last time, would it be possible to add the feature i asked long ago about when you are trying to open something and in that open window, when you click on a .lvl it also gives u a preview of the map. This would be useful when u r looking for a lost map and so on.

Map objects now show in the map objects tab; I had commented out the line that added them, because I was trying to fix another bug (if you deleted an object, then added a new one, it crashed). But all of this is fixed now.

As for the preview... hey it's surely possible to make the XP-like thumbnails work... not sure how it's done, but some files like pdfs, autocad drawings, and some others have a preview thumbnail, can't see why we couldn't do it for lvls. If the thumbnail picture data itself must be in the file, then it might be a problem (would have to embed it in the file as a eLVL chunk); but if it's stored in thumbs.db, then it could work...

If that fails, I could add a separate 'map explorer' or something; not sure how efficient generating thumbnails on the fly would be... Might have to store thumbnail picture in the lvl directly anyway.

To have this inside the open... dialog itself would require quite a lot of tweaking, and we can't edit directly that dialog since it's a common control. So we'd have to create our own one complete thing, which brings in possible new bugs, etc. Which is why a separate map explorer (from which you can still open maps) might be more appropriate then to replace the open... dialog. Well if the explorer turns out awesome, we'll replace it.

Does anyone know anything about making XP (or Vista) show thumbnails of non-image files?

If you wouldn't mind, could you release the version that has all the .lvz fixes?

I'm kinda in need smile.gif

The other was just a perk hoping to get, but glad your thinking about it smile.gif

How about this one?

don't mind the non-working 'Delete image' and 'Open lvz manager' buttons when you right-click on the lvz library blum.gif

Try this one now blum.gif

I fixed a couple of things... T

-The Delete image and lvz manager menu items work

-When you delete an image definition, map objects get re!@#$%^&*igned to the proper image, and objects using that image gets properly deleted

Only thing left to do is add a selection rectangle for lvz objects (with the LVZ tool), and allow to change properties that way.

Added: Double-clicking a map object in the manager centers the map on said object

To Fix: The 'Layer' and 'Mode' properties of a map object cannot be changed properly from the LVZ Manager... The list shows up, but you can't select any item.

Workaround: When the list pops up, check your taskbar and you'll see a new window, click to activate it, then select the layer or mode you need.
