rootbear75 Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 (edited) saw this in an ad on one of my daily comic strip emails...lol http://www.ncpc.org/newsroom/current-campa.../cyberbullying/ Delete Cyberbullying A public advertising campaign aimed at preventing cyberbullying If you’re like most teenagers, you spend a lot of time on a cell phone or instant messenger chatting with friends and uploading photos, videos, and music to websites. You may have online friends whom you’ve never met in person, with whom you play games and exchange messages. Teens’ lives exist in a variety of places such as school hallways, part-time jobs, and friends’ houses. Now many teens also have lives on the Internet. And bullying has followed teens online. Online bullying, called cyberbullying, happens when teens use the Internet, cell phones, or other devices to send or post text or images intended to hurt or embarr!@#$%^&* another person. Cyberbullying is a problem that affects almost half of all American teens. Whether you’ve been a victim of cyberbullying, know someone who has been cyberbullied, or have even cyberbullied yourself, there are steps you and your friends can take to stop cyberbullying and stay cyber-safe. darkhosis Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 i like the helpful tips: Never share your Internet passwords with anyone, except your parents. Never meet anyone face-to-face whom you only know online. Talk to your parents about what you do online. off to go tell my dad all my passwords and all about xtube.. and #2 is referring to me, down in the basement and into the industrial sized freezer with you.. get a nice barbecue, add a little sage and paprika, perhaps a dash of ginger.. invite all the neighbors over
»doc flabby Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 (edited) Prehaps it would be better to try and stop all kinda of bullying rather than focusing on the medium though which it happens. E!@#$%^&*entially try and get people to be nice to each other! Edited June 30, 2008 by doc flabby
darkhosis Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 well, that'll never happen! but imho, if there's going to be bullying, it's better that it's on the internet? i dont really get it. i mean, if you get bullied at your school arent you more likely to get some cache of weapons and go buck wild (or get your !@#$%^&* beat down and/or lots of wedgies, noogies, and indian sunburns)? what are you gonna do on the internet? hack into someones myspace account or something? bullying in person is much worse than the internet. but maybe im just old fashioned. i guess worst case is the suicide, like that 13 y/o girl did when that dumb !@#$%^&* mother or whatever made the fake myspace acct. or you can have something like this happen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70wZXEQ6kTs&fmt=18 omfg
Samapico Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 The thing is, cyber bullying is MUCH easier to avoid... I mean... you 'can' stay off the Internet. But you can't, for example, stop going to school to avoid bullies. And even if you stay on the Internet, every communications programs or network has these 'block' features.I remember reading about some kid being bullied on MSN... DUDE JUST !@#$%^&*ING BLOCK THEM MORONAnd of course the parents went crazy about this sigh.

rootbear75 Posted June 30, 2008 Author Report Posted June 30, 2008 or you can have something like this happen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70wZXEQ6kTs&fmt=18 omfgi actually think that was fake.... because the kids screaming/emotions didnt always match his face... but still. if it is real, its really sad
X`terrania Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 Well, it's really not fair to call other people's misfortunes sad, root. Anyways, most of these people would probably avoid being bullied if they weren't such freaks or so openly weak.
FMBI Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 Let's take a moment to remember that although most of these cases are laughable, there are some in which little kids get worked up and don't know what to do. This looks like it might be mainstreaming "mean girl" abuse tactics. Odd. Sex equality after all?

You could be, but homeschooling isn't a viable option for many/most kids.
