Ok so i'm planning a romantic evening for me and my girlfriend for this weekend. I have everything set except for the food and thats where i'm stuck. Anyone got any ideas? The food can't be spicy as she's crazy and doesn't like spicy food. I've been googling recipes for the past hour but I don't seem to be having much luck.

I don't think she's ever had lobster. I haven't either.

I think i can cook fairly well. (after all, how hard can it be to follow instructions?)

But we die together blum.gif

I wouldn't try anything risky like lobster if we've never had it before. I know she loves lamb and she loves potato. The veg is to make it look a bit more colourful blum.gif

EDIT: And no X`terr, I havent tried putting rise petals in my food and i think i can comfortably say that i never will blum.gif

probably want to go with a safe bet to earn max brownie points, nothing too exotic but nothing too simple either.

in this weather I would plump for something light. Quiche with summer veg perhaps, followed by strawberry and cream :D

Fettuccine alfredo and grilled chicken with some french bread. The sauce is really easy to make and everything for the meal can be picked up at Wal-Mart.

All you need is a single unscented candle and a cheap gl!@#$%^&* candle holder. If you're able to buy alcohol then get a bottle of wine. The wine choice really depends on taste. If you're not sure what to buy then Google "wine pairing" or something similar. If you're like me and my girlfriend and don't drink then just pick up some sparkling grape juice.

Go to your local health food store (In Texas we have a place called Central Market) and get a bottle of grape seed oil. Have a few bath towels set aside in the living room. One for her to lay on and one rolled up for her head. Google some massage tips.

Go to Wal-Mart or Target and pick up a package of tea light candles. I'd go for something that isn't super strong if you want scented. I usually go for the fresh linen scented ones. Make a mixed CD of jazz or classical (whatever you and your girl like). Litter the bathroom with the candles and set the radio on low and draw a hot bath. If your tub is big enough for two then by all means get in there with her, if it's not then just sit with her while she soaks. I made my own bubble bath but if you're not willing to put in that much effort then buy something. Make sure you have the leftover wine/juice available. Fresh fruit is always nice. Cantaloupe or strawberries and whipped cream. Feed her while she soaks.

Pack all of this into one night and she's sure to appreciate the effort. ::wink wink::

Edit: If you're simply wanting to cook her a nice meal and that is all then followup with some strawberry shortcake. I prefer the whipped cream that you whip yourself. If you're wanting to get lucky then make sure you make something that is light on the tummy.

And forgive my mindset, I always write stuff with Americans in mind. I don't know any foreign shops.

Spaghetti and meatballs (make two big ones per serving) with homemade tomato sauce topped with some parsley. Will go perfect with red wine.

Simple, romantic, and relatively healthy (!@#$%^&*uming you people don't eat pasta every day).

Oh, and ask her what would she like in her sauce. blum.gif

I actually second Purge's suggestion. The problem with "Romantic Dinners" is that you feel you have to go out of your way and make something extravaganza, but the biggest problem is, will you actually enjoy the food? It's like suggesting to make French Cuisine and eat "Escargot", simply because it sounds fancy; but c'mon, snails? Just clean up the place, add a nice table setting and some candles, and make something simple like spaghetti with a good sauce, and have a bowl of salad prepared along with some garlic bread. And of course, some wine.
