Incomplete Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Ok so i'm planning a romantic evening for me and my girlfriend for this weekend. I have everything set except for the food and thats where i'm stuck. Anyone got any ideas? The food can't be spicy as she's crazy and doesn't like spicy food. I've been googling recipes for the past hour but I don't seem to be having much luck.
Incomplete Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 Hmm maybe lamb shanks with some mash potato and mixed veg? I dunno i'm just thinking out loud.
X`terrania Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Have you ever tried putting rose petals in your food?
Audry Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Poutine LOOOOOL yeah thats the greatest idea ever! Well everything depends of your capacity to cook Are you good or do you stand in the mac & cheese, toast, eggs category?
Samapico Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 [...]or do you stand in the mac & cheese, toast, eggs category?I do
Cancer+ Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 lol. Well other than spicy, what doesn't she like? You should start there and not cook those foods. Does she like Lobster? Its a bit more expensive but that could be romantic. Just roast a fat pig.
Audry Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 (edited) awwww poor Sama need help? lol lobster... romantic? dude have you ever seen your face when you try to get that !@#$%^&*ing meat outta the lobster hard cover (errr sorry dunno how you call it in english ^^) that wont be romantic... it would be funny as !@#$%^&* Edited June 24, 2008 by Audry
Incomplete Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 I don't think she's ever had lobster. I haven't either. I think i can cook fairly well. (after all, how hard can it be to follow instructions?)
Samapico Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 lol, if you never had lobster, not sure if it's the best idea... Imagine if you both find out you're allergic? You'd both die in severe pain... not quite romantic is it?
Incomplete Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 (edited) But we die together I wouldn't try anything risky like lobster if we've never had it before. I know she loves lamb and she loves potato. The veg is to make it look a bit more colourful EDIT: And no X`terr, I havent tried putting rise petals in my food and i think i can comfortably say that i never will Edited June 24, 2008 by Incomplete
Dav Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 probably want to go with a safe bet to earn max brownie points, nothing too exotic but nothing too simple either. in this weather I would plump for something light. Quiche with summer veg perhaps, followed by strawberry and cream
Incomplete Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 Definatly going for the strawberry and cream. Reckon I should use some appetizers?
LostAndNotFound Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 (edited) Fettuccine alfredo and grilled chicken with some french bread. The sauce is really easy to make and everything for the meal can be picked up at Wal-Mart. All you need is a single unscented candle and a cheap gl!@#$%^&* candle holder. If you're able to buy alcohol then get a bottle of wine. The wine choice really depends on taste. If you're not sure what to buy then Google "wine pairing" or something similar. If you're like me and my girlfriend and don't drink then just pick up some sparkling grape juice. Go to your local health food store (In Texas we have a place called Central Market) and get a bottle of grape seed oil. Have a few bath towels set aside in the living room. One for her to lay on and one rolled up for her head. Google some massage tips. Go to Wal-Mart or Target and pick up a package of tea light candles. I'd go for something that isn't super strong if you want scented. I usually go for the fresh linen scented ones. Make a mixed CD of jazz or classical (whatever you and your girl like). Litter the bathroom with the candles and set the radio on low and draw a hot bath. If your tub is big enough for two then by all means get in there with her, if it's not then just sit with her while she soaks. I made my own bubble bath but if you're not willing to put in that much effort then buy something. Make sure you have the leftover wine/juice available. Fresh fruit is always nice. Cantaloupe or strawberries and whipped cream. Feed her while she soaks. Pack all of this into one night and she's sure to appreciate the effort. ::wink wink:: Edit: If you're simply wanting to cook her a nice meal and that is all then followup with some strawberry shortcake. I prefer the whipped cream that you whip yourself. If you're wanting to get lucky then make sure you make something that is light on the tummy. And forgive my mindset, I always write stuff with Americans in mind. I don't know any foreign shops. Edited June 24, 2008 by a disgruntled Texan

No_Remorse Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 Nothing is more romantic than grilled cheese.
Samapico Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 grilled cheese + cheap wine + McFlurry dessert You got a winning night right there
»Purge Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 Spaghetti and meatballs (make two big ones per serving) with homemade tomato sauce topped with some parsley. Will go perfect with red wine. Simple, romantic, and relatively healthy (!@#$%^&*uming you people don't eat pasta every day). Oh, and ask her what would she like in her sauce.
»Lynx Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 Put some benzodiazepines in there, just incase. -Lynx

Hakaku Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 I actually second Purge's suggestion. The problem with "Romantic Dinners" is that you feel you have to go out of your way and make something extravaganza, but the biggest problem is, will you actually enjoy the food? It's like suggesting to make French Cuisine and eat "Escargot", simply because it sounds fancy; but c'mon, snails? Just clean up the place, add a nice table setting and some candles, and make something simple like spaghetti with a good sauce, and have a bowl of salad prepared along with some garlic bread. And of course, some wine.
