Exiili Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 So basically the roster lock just took place on hsdtldt and oppressors were the only ones to sign up. This means they win by default and are awarded cash prizes. WTF. Am I the only one who has problems with that? Why not host another hsdtsdts and give yourselves a million bucks? There was no rule in the official hstdtsl post which states that you can prize yourself money when no one gives a !@#$%^&*. Ok, it was only 5k per person in the squad, I'll give you that, guess this is a small enough sum that people don't care or notice. But I did. And I don't want a moderator to prize his own squad with stuff when they "won" a thing created by the same moderator and he was also in charge of the whole thing. WUT? Quote
Suicide_Run Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Oh, don't worry Exiili, I noticed it too, just too tired yesterday to care. Though it is funny how you can win it be default when theres only 1 squad in the whole league. I assume the "Losers will receive 5k each at the end of the match" became the 5k prize to Oppressor's squad members..... Quote
f3ar-evil Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Um seriously, If no one plays, you don't "win by default," You just don't play. So now she can host like 1000000000000000000000 HSDTL (whatever) and just keep gaining money for her squad. I don't understand how this works. Someone enlighten me. Quote
Sharpflame Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 No more squad-based events, there isn't even much squads in this zone because it's hard to do/near impossible. Events open for everyone = better in every way. Quote

»Ceiu Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 I wouldn't say squads are useless... but they seem to be in low numbers at the moment. Quote

QUAX Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 This sucks, Unix was alot of fun as an event coordinator. SD was my favorite lol you constantly acuse her of abuse but then you make the above statement. Does not compute. Quote
QUAX Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 I will agree that her prizing her squad for a "default win" was a bit shady. No one competed with The Opressors because there was a boycott of Unix's squad events. I can only assume that her prizing her own squad was her way of slamming the door on the way out in response to the boycott's success. sarcasm, NO ONE liked unix Oh ok. Sarcasm is so hard to get across on message boards but I guess that should have been obvious. Quote
Exiili Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 (edited) I think it's quite sad. Because the event coordinator idea was good, but the implemention sucked. Which might be why people think that the whole event coordinator idea sucked. If you're ever trying this out again consider the following. 1 - You state the prizes and they should be good enough that people will go "hoolly !@#$%^&*, I want to win that." It's not hard to think such a thing. 300k for win? yes, I'd like to win that.It doesn't cripple the economy, it's just one antideath and some extra popsickles and everyone has antideath already. 2 - You make the event free for all. Yes, when there is actual demand for squad based leagues, then be my guest. You don't make the zone squadbased with events, when there's enough people hanging around they'll make some squads on their own. 3 - No goddamm roster-things and email verifications and other complications like that. One reply to the correct thread that states your in-game-name should be enough. You have ?alias and seriously, how many people do you expect to participate. 50 is max and out of those there's going to be 10 names you haven't seen before. Not a big deal to alias them? When we have leagues of trenchwars magnitude, then you can make some verification systems. 4 - The tourneys should be hosted in a arena with it's own shipsets. ?go events has a different shipset, why not make ?go wbtourney that would have all the other ships without guns and the wbs would start with stats the same as if you had eg. pulse, harpy, ion, compression, maxwell, powerstrip and inertial in the public. Items are predefined and are the same for everyone. More people will want to play if you remove the "naah, the rich !@#$%^&* will just pwn me with their pimped out ships" thing. It'll be ..fair? 4.5 - This will also remove all the hassle you're GOING to have if you proceed with the current way of checking people's (or peoples' ?) items and then removing the illegall ones and granting the legitimate ones they have chosen in their e-mail and then back again. 4.75 - This will also annoy d1st0rt, he has to figure out the numbers to make such sub-arena. Harr harr. 5 - Everyone should get to have 1 portal per death in dueling tourneys, because portals lead to ninja-tricks and they're always fun to watch. 6 - Give me money Edited June 24, 2008 by Exiili Quote
QUAX Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Well said Exiili. I also think events are a good thing for HS. I don't think squad based events are a bad idea either. More squad based events will encourage more squads in the zone. The problem last time was that a member of one of the participating squads was coordinating the event and everyone balked. I think it was fair to say that Unix's role wasn't completely unbiased, hence the boycott of HSDT or whatever it was. Another +1 for Exiili for the subarena sugestion. A subarena with it's own ship settings is the only way you could really do a dueling event and make it fair. The only type of League or squad based event were you could use your customized ships would be perhaps in a Flagging Tournament and two squads pick a 10 player roster or something and go at it. Other zones have done this time and time again without a fluke. I'll quit repeating Eliixi now. Quote
