most of the evidence for its negative health effects are myth.

Its true that drinking gallons per day will cause problems but the amount most people drink is harmless.

Even the idea that it is a diuretic is a myth, it's effects are only slight.

It goes for anything, even if you drink gallons of water you can fall into a coma.

bad coffee tastes like !@#$%^&*, done right with fresh beans and mixed with milk and/or sugar to taste it is great.

I'm a fan of cuppachino or filter with a dash of milk myself. No sugar

Instant coffee tastes like !@#$%^&*, not even close to a decent coffee... ever.

I dont think you drown by drinking so much water...more like diluting your blood's ph so much your body fails.

Anywho, back on topic: Watch somehow, the supercomputer will fail at some random point and people will start crying =)

Well, technicall, if you drink so much water that it fills your stomach and eusophageus (sp?!? I know how to spell this in french but...), then you might drown...

And if your body aborbs too much water, I remember reading that you could screw up your brain, there'd be litteraly short-circuits in there and stuff.

the problem you get when you drink to much water is, the water will get in that area between youre brains and skull and basicly just put to much pressure on youre brains (dunno how to say it in proper english DAV HELP ME OUT!)

What the re!@#$%^&* is attempting to say, is that drinking too much water can eventually cause your brain to swell, stopping it regulating vital functions such as breathing, and causing death. The more water that you drink... the kidneys can't keep up... more dilution of the blood... hence more water to the brain... hence swelling.. blah blah blah.

Yeah, you had to hold your wee to win a wii.

Again though, drinking loads of water and urinating a lot is also bad, as you flush your systems toxins, and can fall into a coma.

right now it is on-topic I can say this.

Problem with too much water is that your body fluids (not just blood) become too dilute and changes the diffusion gradients of many dissolved minerals and nutrients. As things tend to go from high to low concentration less natural diffusion will occur where the concentration is higher outside.

Where active transport occurs to pump against a concentration gradient the more extreme difference means more energy is required to do it. also the active transport systems can only work up to a certain ratio of internal molecule to external so by diluting enough you can stop the process altogether.

Osmotic pressure is also another element. If body fluids are more dilute water will move into cells faster. Problem there is cells are well controlled with their amounts of water and too much causes problems.

I'm not a physiologist so i cant say to what extent these processes occur under super hydration but that's my best guess.

Thing is though that its very very hard to do this because the kidneys are very effective when functioning correctly. Their main job is to maintain the correct amount of water for the reasons stated above and they do it with very high accuracy.

ANother reported case was in the London marathon a couple of years ago, apparently someone drank too much and died.

I don't get how you can't say Coffee isn't bad for you. I know people who get so addicted to it that they need to have a coffee in order to take a !@#$%^&*, their heart is one gigantic coffee bean, their insides have coffee stuck to them, etc.

once again the in moderation point needs to be raised. Coffee isn't as bad for you as people claim, but like just about everything else too much can allow negative effects to come to light.
