Yeah, if you were on when the biller went down then all your data is still there, strangely. But GS told me to post this, and he confirmed it.

also sama, you need to be mod, or if you're in an ASSS zone then type /?usage

Just asked a few people, they still have all of their main information (Usage/Banners/Start Dates) - However, their scores are not being saved, and their ?chats/?cheater/?help commands aren't working respectively. They can log in/log out as they like, and have no problems holding their information. Maybe there is a temp. database this stuff goes into?

As someone who used to play Trench Wars all the time, I can tell you that the only reason people aren't appended a ^ beside their name is because they haven't logged out of the zone since the biller went out, therefore all information prior to the outage will remain the same (usage will just be added unto previous figures, but it'll reset when the biller goes back online). Like Polix explained in the other thread, the zones aren't forced to endlessly recycle because of the SSC Biller Proxy, which acts like a safety net for when the biller goes out. People tend to underestimate Subgame though; the biller only handles and saves informations sent by the zone itself, but in order to do that, the zone has to record primary information first.

Also, the only zones that have ^ appended to their usernames are Trench Wars and 17th Parallel, since both of these zones have been hosted on the same server (superb.net). DSB is not hosted on the same server, which is why it gives a popup.

I've logged out and back into Trench Wars numerous times since the biller has gone down and still no ^ in front of my name. smile.gif

Server has your account verified due to multiple recent logins coming from the last time the billing server was disconnected.

Odd, because I have been "Offline" for a few weeks, when I returned and logged in, I wasn't aware of the problem, (logging into TW). I saw a lot of ^ names, but mine was fine. And I have all my information. I have also logged in and out a few times as well.

As Mike said... it appears the server itself stores some information and takes the responsibility to authentify some people

Anyway... wake me up when SSC is back online... I did stuff but I can't test it :D sucks

SS sucks without the biller..

Just proves it, Continuum is just a chat client, with a small 2D space game built in. :/

doesnt really prove it as a lot of the chat features are lost with the biller blum.gif

Subgame holds maybe 50+ (don't know exact figure) details for logins in its temp memory.

So if ur on before the biller goes down and havnt been bumped out of the temp memory

its holding for that data because of newer users details being recorded...

U can login and out as per normal cos subgame still has your authentication details.

Prolly not the most exact/detailed explanation of how it works, but thats basically why.

LOL i also noticed that if you changed your password to your name recently... (right before biller went down) then you will have to use the password of your name that you had before you changed it. Or that could just only happen to certain people.

I was using Subchat at the time of the biller crash, then later on I disconnected once I realized the biller was down, hoping it'd be back up. However, at that time, Subchat wouldn't let me reconnect. I ended up just getting on Continuum and I've had a ^ next to my name since then. Strangely enough, this morning I was able to connect via Subchat and I don't have a ^ or anything else.

When I had the ^ on Continuum, I kind of had half of my sysop powers. It was odd. I couldn't use any *commands, however I could enter locked arenas, read ?helps, and the lower staff (smods included) were still not able to *kill me (or use other commands on me). I found that fairly interesting. I seem to have all of my powers back at the time being since Subchat let me back on.

I also cannot get sunchat toi connect but with continuum loaded I dont have the ^

I guess SC2 needs biller functionailty to establish a connection.

This is a backup of the billing server. Fileplanet still hasn't gotten their stuff together from the fire and explosion. Whether this is permanent or just until they are back online will be decided later.
