it's just all political, countries just vote for their neighbours or who they happen to be on good terms with lol. not point in having a song contest, they might as well just get people to vote for a country lol.

I wanted Latvia to win! Greese had a strong entry too i though. I thought the UK's entry musically was better than some of the others (for example spain).

But...as Wogan said its no longer a music compe!@#$%^&*ion.

Yeah. Wogan is the best part of the whole thing though, he just sits there and ripping into it.

is it like the European version of American Idol?

no its a horrible concept where 40odd countries enter the most horrendous music they can come up with then vote for eact other to host the next one.

Sometimes something cool happens (Lordi 2 years ago, Finland's entry yesterday) but its rare.

Just a a measure of how poor it is... It was responsible for spawning ABBA...

it used to be more about the music, they should never have changed the rules that everyone can sing in whatever language they want >.> (it used to be the languages spoken in the country itself). It went downhill from there, now it's like a circus :/

From Metal archives

Shortly after winning the Eurovision Song Contest, Lordi held a concert at Market Square in Helsinki, where 90,000 Fins helped Lordi celebrate their victory by singing along on the song "Hard Rock Hallelujah". This earned them the world record for largest sing-a-long.
