BlueGoku Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 The creature creator is coming out next month. Here's a long and in depth preview from IGN: http://pc.ign.com/dor/objects/735340/spore..._tool_demo.html I can't wait 'till the full game comes in in September, it looks insanely good.
»D1st0rt Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 Was going to boycott it until they backed down on the guilty-until-proven-innocent protection scheme
rootbear75 Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 just want to make sure: this is PC only right? not 360 or PS3 or Wii?
Suicide_Run Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 Dam I wanna play it....but I wonder what the pc requirement is....
Cancer+ Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 Yeah, that looks pretty sweet. What is the actual game about?
BlueGoku Posted May 24, 2008 Author Report Posted May 24, 2008 PC only, yes. The requirements, they've said, aren't too demanding. You'll probably be able to scale it down. I have a gaming laptop so I'm not too worried. As for what the actual game is about, it's from Maxis, the guys that made all the Sim games. You start off as a single celled organism and then gradually evolve into a creature. You then keep on evolving until you become a space faring civilization, at which point you can travel to other planets and you can destroy or colonize them (or abduct creatures and bring them back to your planet). While the game does not have an online mode, it's linked up to the maxis servers at all times, so most (or probably all) of the planets you come across will actually have creatures that other people have created. The reason they didn't just make it fully online is because they didn't want people to be jerks and just destroy other people's hard work. That's just a rough description, I'm sure there's tons I missed. Read up on it on www.spore.com
Dagger171 Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 ye I saw this game maybe a year ago or something (maybe a bunch of months at least) and it looked awesomeee. I definitely wanna try it out when it comes out and hopefully once the game is out they'll give a fully online option(if they decide to do this I'm sure they can think of a few ideas to stop all ur hard work from being destroyed).
Suicide_Run Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 I heard about this game like 2 yrs ago...I guess they finally stopped pushing back release date XD
rootbear75 Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 I heard about this game like 2 yrs ago...I guess they finally stopped pushing back release date XDsame thought exactly
Bak Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 Was going to boycott it until they backed down on the guilty-until-proven-innocent protection scheme explain
»CypherJF Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 I believe they were going to include a requirement where the game had to phone home every 10 days in order to continue playing to ensure the copy wasn't pirated. They decided against including it.
Suicide_Run Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 (edited) Think it was internet connection instead of phone home....but still re!@#$%^&*ed idea for a single player game =/ Edited May 24, 2008 by Suicide_Run
BlueGoku Posted May 24, 2008 Author Report Posted May 24, 2008 Spore was gonna do that too? I know M!@#$%^&* Effect for PC was gonna authenticate itself every few days but they changed their minds.
rootbear75 Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 Spore was gonna do that too? I know M!@#$%^&* Effect for PC was gonna authenticate itself every few days but they changed their minds.you know someone would eventually make a crack for it ANYWAYS.. so why bother
Suicide_Run Posted May 25, 2008 Report Posted May 25, 2008 (edited) The silly thing is, they are annoying the legit players with the authenticate process instead of helping them. Oh it was M!@#$%^&* Effect that did the internet connection every 10 mins thing? I guess I mixed those two games up. Edited May 25, 2008 by Suicide_Run
rootbear75 Posted May 25, 2008 Report Posted May 25, 2008 here's a thought, what happened if ur internet went out... ur !@#$%^&*ed
»CypherJF Posted May 25, 2008 Report Posted May 25, 2008 That's the thing, a lot of military guys I guess had complained since they are without internet for periods of time. Yes, it was for both games. And "phone home" wasn't literal - it mean it would communicate with the mother ship via internet.
