lol it's pretty easy to get any type of traffic ticket thrown out. i mean, if you get caught speeding often, then you obviously suck at driving. i've been driving for about 4 years... and i've only got pulled over for speeding once, but the ticket got thrown out cus the cop wrote the wrong date smile.gif but once is pretty good for me, considering i normally drive above the posted speed limit 95% of the time, unless i have kids in the car, the other 5% is traffic. Uhh, judging from the responses, I'm the only one here who actually comes close to obeying the laws? blum.gif

But I'd say it has to be a scam, or at least very misleading, because they'd probably be blocked from intervening in your case or something. No way they'd be willing to fork over a few thousand dollars to the kind of irresponsible person who'd buy this, at a rate of $13 a month.

its not bad, because it can protect people from police going on a ticket spree...

also, if you get a speeding ticket, ONCE, just ONCE, this helps by not having to worry about the increased insurance premiums.

think about it, how much do people 16-25 (the "high risk" group) on average pay for insurance... i think it goes for like $1,000-$1,200 every 6 months (on average)

ONE ticket could bump that up a hefty sum... the ticket insurance 1) covers the increase in premiums, and 2) covers the ticket... 13 bucks is not a lot for peace of mind that you wont have to worry about ur insurance premiums skyrocketing

Note that they only cover increases in insurance premiums for one year; after that you're on your own. This only slightly ameliorates increased insurance premiums, it doesn't entirely compensate for them.

meh

i have also only gotten a speeding ticket once...

i paid the fine cause i didnt feel like going back to New Jersey to contest the ticket (which would cost more in gas and hotel than the ticket actually cost)

it got thrown off my record though, because the cop wrote the wrong state... smile.gif (North carolina instead of new jersey (NC vs NJ)

I got a ticket in 2006 for doing 64 in a 45 icecream.gif

if it was 65, he would have taken me to jail O_O

that ticket cost me 400$

and an extra 300$ per month on my insurance :/

I was in my friends car when he was caught doing 125+MPH in a 30... He shot past an undercover, and they had a road block waiting for us a few miles down the road... Normally I'm not too interested in idiots who speed, cause any kid can step out into the road, but this was at like 4am on a completely dead road... And he just got a new Audi S3

Wow.. there's generally a reason that road speeds are limited - safety. blum.gif How the !@#$%^&* did you go at 4x the limit without being killed on a turn or something? :o

The road might be dead, but at that time you can easily get drunk morons who appear in the middle of the street...

and you'd scratch that nice car :/

cops in jersey have nothing better to do than to hide in bushes to find speeders =/

taxi drivers !@#$%^&*ing piss me off. they seriously raise my blood pressure when i'm driving.

but yea, i don't find anything wrong with speeding, if you know how to do it right. i can't stand slow moving traffic.

side note:

my insurance is $30 a month, and i was involved in a drunken driving collision 4 years ago that resulted in a criminal case and 19 months of incarceration for moi. my insurance company paid out 50k (i had minimum liability) personal injury and 15k in property damages. my insurance went from $20 a month, to $35 a month. i pay ~$210 every 6 months in insurance.

so, you wonder about your high rates? well, i guess that contributed some to it. i dont know why my insurance is so low. i even told them i had a wreck in my past that was due to alcohol. she said since it was over 36 months old, that it doesnt influence so heavily in my rate. i have excellent credit history (<-- that matters too) and no other points on my license. i also live in a rural area, which drops the rate some bit.

shrug. i was expecting something along the lines of $200 a month, and got $35 a month.. needless to say i was quite pleased. all this stuff about paying $300 a month in insurance is very bizarre to me. i guess this is comprehensive, possibly on a leased car or something of that sort. my car is bought and paid for, so all i need is the liability. my brother has a porsche fully paid for and only has to pay approx. $60 a month himself (he also had underinsured motorist coverage though).

if you go to jail, get points, etc, they DO NOT PAY OR COVER THAT
Hah, well if you think about abusing this insurance, you'll be in trouble with your license before you can use up your 7 coverings.

Second, if a judge sees "this" as being intentionally abused in court, they can rule against it regardless of what you think or care. After all, this insurance doesn't provide lawyers or attorney's, just some fees. ;) Could have used this last year though for a stupid speed trap. :(

As far as I know, Idaho has no speed limit on their highways as long as you drive safely around people and other vehicles.

where it comes into play however, is that the insurance premiums are increased, as well as other things... they cover those increases as well...
Well you see, that's where I'm a bit suspicious about this insurance. If you have kids, just imagine how high you can push your insurance premiums with subliminal intent of abusing your ticket insurance. Have like 8 kids, and they all get their license and stuff before turning 18, get pulled over and such (and to mention you never reported them to your car insurance company), just wait until you get a huge insurance bill... Think this ticket insurance company will want to pay for that? I don't. ;) It's a loss in profit and money. Companies don't give you anything for free unless they make profit one way or another. Paying for your insurance premiums is a joke.

I should make a list of things that piss me off infinitely...
I dare you, Maddox (Samapico). ;)

At the end of time the people who know the truth and stick for it will be known as the renegades, rebels, and criminals of time. Now come on, understand this -- everyone sins. ;) If everyone does it, it must be right, doesn't it? blum.gif (I'm not actually serious *muahahahaaha*)

This I sort of have to argue. If there is absolutely nobody alive at 4AM outside, why not? I mean if you know for a fact that there's nobody within miles with a car turned on and everyone is sleeping, and you forget to stop at an intersection because you're tired and coming home from some weird late-night work, do you think you'd deserve that ticket? There are two logics: humanly and systematically. If you were doing it systematically, then yes, you deserve the fine and the ticket because you tripped a wire in the system. If you used the 'humanly' logic, it should be understandable that you are tired, coming from a late-night job that you couldn't avoid, just wanting to get home and to bed and can't pay 100% attention to certain things, but know nobody is out -- it would be understandable and should be a forgivable, punishless act.

Then you have to question the righteousness of doing 125 on a 30 at 4 in the morning intentionally, when nobody is alive or in sight. Either that police officer is weird (I really don't know what to say) or the officer just wants your money because he knows he can get it through the systematic logic. However, because it was done with intention, I think everyone here could agree that the part of it being intended would make it an act of breaking the laws of the State. Personally, I can't quite decide if an event like this should be forgiven or penalized. It was wrong, but done during a safe time range of the day. Then you have to question or analyze your moral standards: what do you consider right and wrong? Do you use the philosophy or logic that if it was wrong, it was wrong regardless of conditions? Or do you use that if it depended on specific scenarios, was wrong, and conditions allowed an action to be accomplished with only the slightest or no risk at all then it would be a right or ok thing to do (or if it had the slightest risk, it would be a wrong thing to do because the potential is there; simply the potential existing causing you to identify such action as wrong)?

Anyway. blum.gif

By the way, I hope nobody takes this reply in an offensive way. I just don't have the time to keep up with things to the minute (and if I were, I'd be replying more frequently). No harms. :]

darkhosis... how the !@#$%^&* do you pay so little for insurance? lol. i don't get it =/ i pay close to $500/month now... but i'm insured on 3 cars. i'm selling one soon, but even on two cars it'll be about $400/month =/ Edited by L0SA

I notice that if you took Driver's Ed in high school you pay less, and if ur male you pay less

yea you do... it's reduced by 15% or something. i didn't actually take it but i got a certificate for a cheap price so my really expensive insurance has already been reduced.

Posted

You pay less if you're male?

Totally different in the UK. They heard a rumor that women are safer drivers (god knows where they got that !@#$%^&*umption) so their insurance is alot less than a males insurance.

Posted
Yeah, statistics show that women crash less, however, they don't show the amount of women:male drivers, and don't account for small accidents, only write offs...

they only pay the INCREASE.. not the actual premiums so if ur premiums go from like 1200 every six months to like 2000 every six months, they will pay the 800$

women in general are safer drivers... not all, but most. they drive at the posted speed limit, they have two hands on the steering wheel at 10 and 2, they take FOREVER to make a left turn at an intersection because they wait until the light turns red, so it's impossible to get into an accident... they always signal even if it's not necessary, they never cut anyone off... etc.

tbh, i don't think it's a men vs women thing. a lot of accidents happen because people drive too slow, or they step on the brakes for no reason at all, or they don't yield to the right-of-way. i think nervous drivers cause accidents... and taxi drivers lol.
