Linear vs. Tables

I was curious as to which one is preferred when adding staff lists to zone pages? Or rather which one looks better?

 

In the linear version, the list can drag the page down a lot, depending on how much staff you have, and if you're including former staff as well. The advantage to this however, is that it's easier to add descriptions on the side of a player's name. Example:

In a table'd version, the list is more neatly organized and it doesn't drag the page on forever. The disadvantage is that it's more difficult to add extra information, although this could be included in the player's page instead. An example can be seen here:

actually, as long as you know how the table is formatted, it's fine.

worst comes to worst, you have to count, or re-edit ur edit

 

but, i like the linear, cause 1, its a lot easier to add people to the list, and 2, it looks cleaner

I think the linear one looks simpler and is less likely to be accidentally screwed up in terms of formatting by someone who drops by and edits it. Just my opinion, though.

I have to say i like the table version, looks a lot better and is easier to see vast numbers of staff on a single screen.

I like the Table, it's much kinder on the eye, and like dav said, shows all of the staff on a single screen.

we could always produce a template, or it can be copied from your example for people that wish to use it.

Yeah... I guess a template for that would be nice. The table is indeed nicer imo. But without a template, it's a mess in there

 

Have no idea how templates work though... if it's something that requires admin, tell me, but if you wiki mods can do it, have fun

Just requires some coding inside a page. I'll work on it right now whiles I have the time.

Alright, I updated the page with comparisons between three different ways to obtain relatively the same effect. The first being the original code, the last being a template*, so that the syntaxt needed is simplified:
