Sharpflame Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Do you want bricks to be rechargable? What this means is that, like Antideath, you can get a free item or privilege after a timer has ended. With Antideath, every few minutes or so you can get a respawn at the location you died at. Then you have to wait for the timer to end. With rechargable bricks, you can buy your brick mount, and then buy your brick. On ?iteminfo Long Brick, you see things like "brickcooldown: +10000", this way, you are prized a brick when you spawn IF the timer is up. When you go and use that brick, the timer resets. I'd say that a 5 minute long timer would be appropriate. "Why?"Because bricks are not used enough. Because bricks are currently a waste of money. Because it is cool this way. With this setup being used, bricks do not get spammed because one player can not use more than one in a set time limit. Also, if a brick doesn't work out right, you didn't waste money, only your time. Try again when your brick is recharged. Please post opinions, and post why you voted what you did. Quote
Raw-Tard Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Very nice imo, but have u thought about what kind of brick would it be? long? wide? etc. 5 min's is a nice time imo. not too too too long but not too short. Quote

Possibly both or more. If someone would rather use bricks more often, they'd have to choose a basic brick over Long brick. Long brick would probably deserve a longer timer, about 6-8 minutes. Cage 10 min. etc. Quote
s-abbas Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 make it so that u buy it.like u buy wide brick.. then every 5minutes wide brick comes upor u buy a different kind... or cage brick... and then every 5min cage brick comes up Quote

Unix Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Nice idea, then you can add a few different kind of bricks to it too. Instead of omnifield, omnibrick, so it's a brick that turns into any other brick, probably would be a sig though at the same time since it's so powerful and useful. Quote
Gar Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 I love this idea. I have never and will never use a brick solely because of their current cost. Energy Infusion is ridiculously expensive. Quote
Matrim Cauthon Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 energy infusion costs 125$...thats like an ammo pack, if u could afford to buy ammo packs, how do u not afford to buy ei? Quote
Sharpflame Posted May 15, 2008 Author Report Posted May 15, 2008 energy infusion costs 125$...thats like an ammo pack, if u could afford to buy ammo packs, how do u not afford to buy ei? Ammo packs are worth $100. Energy Infusion is worthless. Quote
Matrim Cauthon Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 an ei used properly can save your high bty, its useful(though ei is mostly used against thorstorms and burst spammers, since thors are less now, and bursts kill too fast now, ei might be actually worthless, and btw did aphasic burst protection just get nerfed?) Quote
vetta64 Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 if you mix ei with ad on, or ei for btying, that is something special when you need it, well worth 125 at the right time Quote
Gar Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 Exactly... EI needs 'the right time', meanwhile a mount sits useless forever. Quote
linger Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 ei with sfs current thing would be hot like it was in the old days where it would respown after death Quote
9vgnc3eZ01 Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 This is a good idea. It should be implemented. Enough said from me. Quote
Matrim Cauthon Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 brick lasts so long, my port ran out before a brick ran out Quote
Unix Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 60 secs for a port - Bricks last about 20 secs at most, probably even less. Just curious, who voted no and didnt say why? Quote
Gar Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 Random thought: does the existence of energy infusion mean bricks can have certain effects on your ship other than maxing your energy? If so, what kind of effects? Quote

Unix Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 How come no one has said why rechargeable bricks would be bad O_o Quote
Gar Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 (edited) +1 bounty ftw.Actually, I was thinking of a brick item that made your maxspeed 0 for 10 seconds... meaning you can't move at all, but you also can't be repelled. That could be very interesting. It could help open up a new role for ships, a true 'defender' rather than simply a 'reverse rusher' like we have now. This could be continued with other additions. Dr Brain Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 Changing clientset settings, like maxspeed, quickly isn't practical (the real reason for the shipchange delay). Quote
QUAX Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 Rechargable bricks might cause flag games to last longer and the current push is to shorten flag games. Quote
