Our community here at SSCentral has always hung on IPS and their work. Something they have slacked on for the past while, with all their constant updates and changes, and being limited to having to keep compatibility w/ older software.

Finally for IPB 3.0, they will drop all support for older php4, oracle, and a lot of the unused features of the forum that waste code space. They are also spreading a lot more of the forum code out (no more single super class file), and recoding 3.0 from ground up, something phpBB did and saw great results in their new forum running faster and less server intensive. They're also working to make IPB more integratable between its components, your website, and future software, such as IPS' new Nexus w/ its Dynamic and Downloads plugins (SSCentral and SSDownloads future, 1 universal login for all 3 of our sites. And 1 universal specialized nav bar for the 3). They're giving us a chance to redesign our community around here, and build the centralized websites strong again. I for one am excited for this, and will help the admins get it all together and working properly. I have some days off coming up w/ no plans yet, so setting 1 aside to do this is no issue.

They're keeping very low key, besides updating their site.

Some think they may release w/ IPB 3.0, as a huge package update, but dunno yet.
