aquarius Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 yea i'm just about sick of the current tileset, pick some numbers below Quote
protocol_ Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 i really like them all but 13. that dark blue just doesnt look good to me. but they all look great aqua. good job. Quote
Sharpflame Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 That new black and blue one at the top is uber cool. Quote
QUAX Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 15, 3, and 12 for sure. The one that is not numbered, that one would look tight if it was light blue like the others. Quote
aquarius Posted May 15, 2008 Author Report Posted May 15, 2008 aligned all the tiles to 16x16 grid and re-typed the numbers, pick again =P 8 or 15 (or both) will be used for the main walls of the map and they will not be on the tileset they will be placed as .lvz, so all you mappers probably won't ever be using them the tileset will have a couple of the other tiles on it / all the proper connector-pieces fire, ice, and maybe rock will be added as .lvz, I may put rock and/or ice on the tileset because rock and ice can form solid walls, electricity is another thought in mind, and will most likely be added as .lvz so pick numbers again please, vote either 15 or 8 for the main walls of the map (sector borders, HT walls), then vote a couple other numbers (for bases/obstacles) thank you Quote
Sharpflame Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 What happened to that black and blue one? I think you should post a new topic with the official numbers and a poll. Much easier to keep track. Quote
ThunderJam Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 Heres some more options if you guys prefer any of these http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y56/tman563/Tilesets/HSmix.png Quote

They comprise some fairly unusual ideas, so while we're on that topic, more or less, I have some other thoughts to add that I'm sure I couldn't do justice to. Quote
cow888 Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 ..well? I took some time to edit the electricity tiles so that they look MOAR electrical and less blob-like.The molecular tiles aren't my personal favorite, but they probably came out the best of all of these. I recall tuning them to fit together better, so most of the tiles should. The water tiles took forever to align and still didn't come out perfectly, but I have no idea where to go from there, so I'm leaving them alone lest I screw them up... again. And lastly, the cloud tiles are my favorite idea, even though I never did succeed in making the main three tile by three tile section look less bland - I don't think I ever will. I had a few other ideas as well, none of them very original:Some ice walltiles would be nice, but Hyperspace already has a set that works fine and someone else already posted some animated ones that would replace the asteroids... besides, the ones I did attempt looked like just a bunch of squares.Walls made out of literal fire would be cool, but probably be even tougher to fit to a square pattern than the ones I've already tried, and Brain mentioned using door tiles to make animated fire anyway. The water tiles made me think of constructing a set entirely out of bubbles and replacing the bubble with a water droplet, but the droplet would probably be too large to look natural and each of the tiles in the bubble set would look basically the same. On that note, however, some rain tiles might go well with the cloud and electricity ones...And since the tiles aren't absurd enough, why not some plant tiles? Leaves? Trees rooted in chunks of earth? My final idea (and one of my better ones) was a simple granite set. I'm not even sure what granite looks like, but a base could be designed entirely around the shelf rock theme: a base that is made of thick walls that contain "gas pockets" of anti-Thor's Hammer tiles to render wallbombing and thorstorms nearly useless, but also has a scraggly interior that is therefore difficult to fill with gunspam and is shorter in length overall to fit its wider walls into the same space as other bases.
